The SUE Field Supervisor leads field operations for Subsurface Utility Engineering projects, ensuring accurate utility data collection and safe execution. This role oversees crews performing utility locating, designation, and quality control while coordinating with project management and clients. The ideal candidate brings deep field experience, strong leadership, and a hands-on approach to underground utility investigations
Job Responsibilities -
- Supervise daily SUE field activities, including utility locating, designation, and data collection.
- Lead, train, and mentor field technicians to ensure quality, safety, and productivity standards are met.
- Perform and oversee underground utility locating using electromagnetic, GPR, and vacuum excavation methods.
- Ensure field data accuracy, documentation, and compliance with ASCE 38 standards and project requirements.
- Coordinate with project managers, survey teams, and clients to align field operations with schedules and scopes.
- Enforce safety protocols, conduct tailgate meetings, and ensure compliance with OSHA and company policies.
- Troubleshoot field challenges and provide technical guidance on complex utility conflicts.
Job Requirements -
- 8-10 years of experience in Subsurface Utility Engineering or related underground utility services.
- Extensive hands-on experience with underground utility locating and designation methods.
- Proven leadership experience supervising field crews in a construction or utility environment.
- Strong working knowledge of ASCE 38 standards, utility mapping practices, and field documentation.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, utility records, and survey data.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interface with clients, crews, and internal teams.
