Summer 2026 Intern, Policy Planning and StrategyPolicy Planning anticipates changes in the banking sector through data‑driven analysis and stakeholder engagement to ensure our regulatory framework remains effective and aligned with today's financial landscape. We are currently leading the statutorily required 10‑year review to identify and remove outdated and unduly burdensome regulations with final recommendations due to Congress in 2027.We are seeking a Summer Analyst to support our regulatory modernization initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and an interest in financial regulation.ResponsibilitiesConduct analysis to identify outdated, unnecessary, or burdensome regulations within our regulatory frameworkDevelop analytical tools and models to quantify regulatory burden on financial institutionsCompile and analyze data to evaluate regulatory effectiveness and redundanciesSupport the preparation of the mandated Report to Congress on regulatory review findingsAssist with stakeholder engagement to gather input on regulatory impactLearning ObjectivesLearn how to calculate and apply quantitative estimates of costs of regulationsDevelop deep understanding of bank regulatory frameworkUnderstand S&R strategy, workflow, and policy processExposure to S&R policy leadersDesired qualifications and skillsSignificant coursework in Economics, Finance, and Public Policy, or a related field; Some coursework in Computer Science, or Data Science; Coursework in Mathematics, Statistics are a plus.Key competenciesMust be proficient in one of the following programming languages: Python, R; Should be comfortable using genAI tools and understand their strengths and weaknesses; Familiar with quantitative and qualitative analysis methods; Strong research skills.NotesUS Citizenship is required.
