Position Summary

This summer internship position provides technical support to the Transportation (TD) Group, encompassing highway, traffic, and bridge engineering, and related work required by other Departments within the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Utility coordination.
• Right of way plan preparation.
• Drainage design.
• Traffic control plan design.
• Strive to achieve a higher performance level, increase your knowledge of understanding Highway engineering standards and practices consistently.
• Understand and be able to use the Company filing system within the first week of your employment.
• Follow instructions and complete Highway engineering assignments, as directed.
• Attendance at Company and/or Highway meetings, as necessary.
• Organize and maintain office paperwork and/or digital files.
• Correspond with Clients and staff, as requested.
• Use appropriate public relations when dealing with co-workers, clients, observers, and the public.
• Have strong interpersonal skills and communicate effectively with people, both orally and in writing.
• Perform tasks independently, organize information, and complete deliverables expediently.

Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

• Candidates must be currently enrolled and working towards a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or related curriculum.
• Strong analytical, conceptual, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work and thrive in a team environment.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Microstation Word, Excel
• Valid Pa Driver's License

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Work is performed in office and outdoor settings. Outdoor work is required in the inspection of various project sites on uneven and rough terrain in all weather conditions. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate instruments, computers and various pieces of office equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is often required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.
