Are you an experienced aquatics professional who thrives in outdoor environments and loves mentoring young people? We’re looking for a dynamic Summer Aquatics Program Manager to oversee all waterfront operations at camp while creating a safe, exciting, and empowering experience for campers and staff alike.

From swim programming and boating activities to staff leadership and safety management, this role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining leadership, recreation, and purpose-driven work.

 What You’ll Be Responsible For

Waterfront Leadership & Program Oversight

  • Direct all waterfront activities including:
    • Swimming
    • Canoeing
    • Boating
    • Water-based recreation
  • Design and maintain engaging, safe, and inclusive aquatic programming
  • Help integrate waterfront experiences into the overall camp environment

Staff Supervision & Training

  • Lead, mentor, and support lifeguards and waterfront team members
  • Conduct pre-camp orientation and ongoing staff coaching
  • Promote strong teamwork, accountability, and camper engagement

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to:
    • American Camp Association standards
    • Girl Scouts safety guidelines
    • NYS Department of Health regulations
  • Conduct swim assessments and instruction when certified
  • Maintain accurate logs, water quality records, and incident documentation
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and safety concerns

Equipment & Operations

  • Oversee proper maintenance and use of:
    • Canoes
    • Boats
    • Docks
    • Lifesaving and waterfront equipment
  • Coordinate inspections and support operational readiness throughout the season

What You Bring to the Team

  • Minimum age of 21
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Waterfront Certification or Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification
  • Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification (or equivalent)
  • 3+ seasons of aquatics, waterfront, or camp leadership experience
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
  • Previous staff supervision or training experience preferred
  • Willingness to complete additional aquatics management training as needed

 Physical & Outdoor Requirements

  • Ability to remain active and outdoors for extended periods
  • Comfortable lifting and carrying 15+ pounds
  • Ability to navigate uneven outdoor terrain
  • Comfortable working in changing weather conditions
