Job Title: Summer Camp Educator Job Classification: Seasonal, FT, Nonexempt
Reports to: Summer Camp Site Director & Assistant Site Director
Position Objective: Camp Educators oversee the general success and safety of camp groups by implementing weekly science curriculums designed for PreK-8th grade children. While coordinating with Camp Counselors, Camp Volunteers, and Camp leadership, educators are responsible to plan daily schedules, lead educational activities, and manage the group and classroom environment.

Responsibilities
Lead hands-on informal science activities for campers
Topics including nature discovery, tinkering, space, and animal behavior/care
Facilitate curriculum written by year-round staff for 3 \u2013 4 hours of each camp day
Lead informal group games, songs, and skits
Act as point of contact between caretakers, Site Directors, and full-time Museum staff
Provide caretakers appropriate feedback at camper pick-up and drop-off to ensure successful camp experience
Maintain accurate and timely program records such as camper documentation and daily program summaries
Work closely with Site Directors, Camp Counselors, volunteers, and year-round Museum staff to maintain safety and well-being for up to 18 campers at a time
Demonstrate compassion and empathy while utilizing positive behavior techniques to ensure campers with diverse needs and backgrounds follow safety and community guidelines
Traveling to and from the camp space and other campus locations
Oversee safe and efficient trips to and from bathrooms
Communicate issues to camp leadership and team in a timely manner
Be aware of and implement Museum policies
General classroom and materials management
Design and scheduling of individual camp activities
Set up activities and clean up the classroom before and after the camp day
Monitor classroom supplies and request replenishments when needed
Evaluate program for feasibility and effectiveness & communicate issues to camp staff and curriculum writers
Attend scheduled staff meetings and trainings
Facilitate daily team meetings with Counselors to outline the day's activities, discuss group management plans, address emergent issues

Important Note - Camp Staff will not work the entire summer schedule or have to work consecutive weeks. Staff will be required to work a total of 5 - 8 full weeks throughout the summer season (May 26-August 21). Applicants will be asked to detail their summer availability during the interview process, and preference will be given to those able to work more weeks.
