Join our team at YMCA as a Summer Day Camp Counselor! 2026 Summer camp is May 26th - July 31st, and a mandatory training is being held all day Saturday, May 16th.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervise a group of children in a seasonal day camp setting
  • Plan and implement culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate program activities
  • Adhere to program standards including safety and cleanliness
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings
  • Follow YMCA policies and procedures
  • Maintain accurate and timely records
  • Maintain positive relations with parents and other staff

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Previous experience working with children in a camp setting preferred
  • Previous experience with diverse populations of children preferred

Physical Demands:

This position requires the ability to plan, lead, and participate in a range of activities in various outdoor and indoor settings. It may involve exposure to summer heat and sunlight, outdoor elements, and aquatic environments. The physical demands include walking, stooping, standing, bending, hearing, seeing, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Training:

  • Certifications in First Aid, CPR, AED, and O2 are required within 30 days of hire date
  • Y Camp training required before camp sessions, including online safety courses
  • New Employee Orientation required within the first week of hire
