The EHS Intern is responsible for supporting the EHS Team, Operations, Engineering and local management in establishing and continuously improving Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) culture within the worksite. They will assist the EHS Team with implementing the EHS management systems, monitoring EHS objectives, assessing local risks; preparing/monitoring compliance to policies/procedures; compliance audits and self-audits.

As a EHS intern with Howard Energy Partners, you will contribute to HEPs core values and strategies while gaining a ground-level understanding of the energy industrys regulatory requirements, hazards and solutions through hands-on assignments at one of our various Texas locations.
EHS Interns may expect to:
- Specialize in one or more functional areas including safety management, emergency response, accident prevention, personal safety, process safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, environmental air/water/waste programs and regulatory compliance auditing.
- Develop technically and professionally by working with team members inside and outside HEP.
- Assist in the development and production of plans, programs, and procedures guiding company policy and regulatory compliance, safe operations, and prevention of undesired consequences.
- Have assignments that may include reviewing and analyzing environmental regulatory requirements for a project or portion of the operation, performing technical calculations, estimations and database management, preparing applications for regulatory approvals or reports, and developing programs, plans and proposals.
You will be located in Corpus Christi, TX; San Antonio, TX; Laredo, TX or Orla, TX.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a bachelors or masters degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Management, Fire Protection or related major.
- Strong academic record and demonstrated interest in the energy industry.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- The ideal candidate will also have a fundamental knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental regulations and industrial hygiene.
- Travel may be required and will vary by project.
