Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources
SUBJECT: Summer Framework Alignment Collaborative
Brockton Public Schools is seeking educators interested in joining a cross-disciplinary team this summer to support the implementation of the revised Massachusetts DESE CTE Frameworks. Participants will engage in meaningful work focused on curriculum alignment, scope-and-sequence development, work-based learning, and continuous program improvement across Career and Technical Education programs. While priority will be given to CTE teachers, non-CTE teachers are welcome to participate, contingent upon funding.
This opportunity brings together educators to participate in professional learning and collaborative planning designed to strengthen career-connected learning opportunities for students. Participants will review curriculum, competencies, and instructional practices to ensure alignment with state framework expectations; refine program scope-and-sequence documents to support coherent student learning progression; and identify opportunities to strengthen connections between academic and technical instruction. Through this work, educators will contribute to the development of high-quality learning experiences that promote student engagement, career readiness, and successful program outcomes.
Duties
- CTE and non-CTE eductors will collaborate to align program curriculum, competencies, and scope and sequence documents with the revised Massachusetts DESE CTE Frameworks using DESE-approved templates and resources.
- Apply knowledge gained through professional learning to support curriculum revision, instructional planning, assessment development, and framework implementation.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop a shared understanding and consistent implementation of framework-aligned instructional practices.
- Engage in continuous improvement processes to strengthen curriculum, student engagement, advisory committee engagement, and program outcomes.
- CTE teachers will participate in targeted industry professional development related to curriculum development, competency-based education, assessment design, scope and sequence development, and implementation of the Massachusetts CTE Frameworks.
Qualifications
- Willingness to develop and revise curriculum materials, scope and sequence documents, assessments, and instructional resources with program and district colleagues.
- Commitment to participating in targeted professional development related to curriculum design, competency-based education, and CTE framework implementation.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, administrators, advisory committee members, postsecondary partners, and industry representatives.
- Ability to meet established project timelines and complete required deliverables.
- Commitment to promoting equitable access, participation, and success for all students within CTE programs.
Key Deliverables
Working in collaborative teams, participants will contribute to the development of meaningful resources and tools that will support student success and strengthen CTE programs across the district. Deliverables will include:
Framework-Aligned Scope and Sequence Document
- Collaborate with colleagues to review, revise, and strengthen a DESE-aligned scope and sequence using the Massachusetts CTE Framework template, ensuring a clear and coherent progression of student learning and skill development.
Instructional and Assessment Resources
- Develop or refine instructional materials, interdisciplinary learning activities, performance tasks, and assessments that support student learning, skill attainment, and career readiness.
Work-Based Learning and Industry Engagement Recommendations
- Identify opportunities to strengthen work-based learning experiences, employer partnerships, and advisory committee engagement to better connect classroom learning with college and career pathways.
- Program Improvement Action Plan
- Contribute to a practical roadmap for continued program improvement, including recommendations for curriculum enhancement, student engagement, framework implementation, and future collaboration during the upcoming school year.
- Through this work, participants will gain valuable insight into Career and Technical Education, collaborate with colleagues across disciplines, and help create learning experiences that prepare students for success in college, careers, and life.
Compensation
- Compensation will be provided at the contractual rate.
- A minimum commitment of 50 hours is required to support this work. Additional hours may be available, contingent upon grant funding and the number of accepted applicants.
- Number of positions: 7-8, contingent upon grant funding.
- All work must be completed by August 31, 2026
