Join our dynamic team as a Temporary Summer Intern, where you'll gain valuable hands-on experience in a professional setting.

 

llinois CancerCare has a student summer intern position available in the Nursing department. Interested students will work up to 20 hours per week for 6 to 8 weeks. Our summer internship program is designed to give high school, undergraduate and medical school students a chance to gain experience in a healthcare facility.

 

Pay: $15.00/hr.

Responsibilities:

What You’ll Do

  • Assist nurses with basic patient care activities under direct supervision.
  • Perform basic documentation or clerical tasks as assigned.
  • Provide general support to help nurses meet daily patient care needs.
Qualifications:

What We’re Looking For

  • Senior level high school student or College student preferred.

 

  • Seeking nursing school student preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges.

 

 

Special Physical Requirements

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
  • Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
  • Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
  • Requires frequent bending, reaching, squatting, stooping.

  • The employee has limited exposure to toxic substance and is expected to be familiar with the dangers and proper handling of such.
