The Summer Law Intern Program (SLIP) is the Department of Justices competitive recruitment program for compensated summer internships. As a Summer Law Intern, youll be a member of a team where you can develop your legal skills and contribute your talents to our important mission.

Technical Qualifications
Open to full-or part-time law students who have completed at least one full semester of legal study by the application deadline and graduating law students who are entering a full-time judicial clerkship, graduate law program, or qualifying legal fellowship. Salary: Federal salaries vary by geographic location. Employees assigned to high cost-of-living areas receive a percentage of their base pay as locality pay. See - Legal Careers | Summer Law Intern Program Eligibility
Education
Full-or part-time law students who have completed at least one full semester of legal study by the application deadline.
Completion of at least one semester of law school is required.
Additional information
Fitness/Suitability: Entrance on duty is contingent upon completion of a fitness/suitability review and adjudication that includes a fingerprint check, credit check, drug test and a review of the summer candidates preemployment forms. Some components require a National Agency Check with Inquiries through the
Office of Personnel Management.
Citizenship: U.S. citizens and qualifying non-U.S. citizens who meet immigration and appropriations law criteria may apply. See: USAJOBS Help Center - Employment of non-citizens. The appointment of non-U.S. citizens is subject to strict security requirements and is extremely rare. Applicants who hold dual citizenship in the U.S. and another country will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Some positions are open only to U.S. citizens.
