The School District of Athens is seeking highly qualified, enthusiastic Summer Learning Teachers to join our team for an engaging and enriching summer program for elementary-aged students. Our program blends innovative indoor instruction with dynamic outdoor learning experiences, creating a well-rounded environment where children can explore, grow, and thrive.

Position Overview

Summer Learning Teachers will design and deliver creative, student-centered lessons that support academic growth while fostering curiosity and a love of learning. Teachers will utilize both classroom and outdoor spaces to provide hands-on, experiential learning opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement engaging lessons
  • Incorporate outdoor, experiential learning activities into daily instruction
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
  • Monitor student progress and adapt instruction to meet diverse needs
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers and staff to ensure a cohesive program experience
  • Maintain clear communication with program coordinators and families

Required Qualifications

  • Valid teaching license (or in progress) with elementary education or applicable subject area
  • Demonstrated experience working with elementary-aged children
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • Passion for innovative, hands-on, and outdoor education
  • Ability to work collaboratively and maintain a positive, flexible attitude

Program Details

  • Seasonal summer position: June 8 - 19, 2026 (10 days)
