SUBJECT: Teaching Positions - Early College Career Explorer Program

REPORTS TO: Daniel St. Louis, Director of Early College

ANTICIPATED START DATE: July 27th 2026 (with training/planning to be scheduled in late mid-to-late June and early July)

Early College Career Explorer Program In partnership with Quinsigamond Community College (QCC) and Worcester State University (WSW), WPS will offer a grant-funded summer program for Early College students to explore career opportunities at a variety of sites around Worcester. Students will engage in career explorations led by staff at local banks, businesses, courts, healthcare facilities, City Hall and more Students will eat breakfast and lunch on site each day.

The Early College Summer Academy will be held July 27th - July 31st. Students will board a bus at their high school each day to visit local sites, and return by 2pm each day. One hundred students are expected to attend the program. Teachers are expected to attend all five (5) days.

Ten (10) positions needed for the following responsibilities:

  • Participate in pre-program training and planning (8 hours total; dates/times TBD)
  • Meet students at their high school each morning and ride the bus to the various sites and back.
  • Plan and carry out career planning and reflection activities each day.
  • Support supervision of students and facilitation of workshops during all program hours (6 hours per day for 5 days--8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR ALL EARLY COLLEGE SUMMER ACADEMY WPS STAFF:

  1. Appropriate educator licensure in a secondary content area
  2. Bachelor''s Degree
  3. SEl Endorsed
  4. Teaching or counseling experience at the secondary level

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1 .Experience as an Early College coordinator, counselor or instructor or with other college access programs

  1. Experience teaching in summer programs and activities
  2. Successful experience supporting English learners and students with special needs
  3. AbiIity to speak Albanian, Arabic, Nepali, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese or an African language.

WORK YEAR: This is an out-of-school time program.

SALARY: Contractual rates of $40.00 and $65.00 per hour Preference in the selection of teachers for this program will be given to educators assigned to a WPS high school during the regular school year.
