Position Summary
Teach children with developmental disabilities in a 613 or 812 classroom ratio for six week summer session 30 days. Implement IEPS structured learning activities and recreation opportunities. Supervise non-exempt personnel and work collaboratively with support staff and related service providers for students ages 5-22.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
Create and implement lesson plans that are fun, engaging, and meet IEP objectives.
• Demonstrate and support staff in data collection and monitoring techniques to exemplify empirical documentation of progress. • Meet regularly with colleagues and staff regarding new learning targets, goals for each student, and input related to behavior management plans. • Ensure the completion of all program documentation for program review and assessment and reports and plans to meet state requirements. • Manage classroom environment and daily schedule. • Supervise classroom staff including a teaching assistant, classroom aide, and shared staff. • Provide direct support to students. • Implement Behavior Intervention and other student-specific service plans. • Attend agency faculty and student meetings. • Demonstrate an understanding of and compliance with applicable regulatory procedures. • Communicate in an ongoing positive and productive fashion with all members of the student team, including program managers and parents, to facilitate child learning across environments.

Skills and Knowledge Requirements
Preferred:
• MA in Special Education or Education • NYS teaching certification • NYS Students with Disabilities credential • Applicant should have a strong behavioral background with autism and other developmental disabilities
Required:
• BA in Special Education or Education • NYS Initial Teaching Certification • Proficiency in or knowledge of using a variety of computer software and email applications, especially Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word • Have the aptitude to learn other computer software as necessary • Must be able to lift 50 lbs independently and assist in lifting weights exceeding 50 lbs • Be able to perform all physical interventions
