Job Summary/Basic Function
1. Work with Upward Bound students to build a community based on respect and civility. 2. Provide support for UB students experiencing academic, health or other difficulties. 3. Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution as needed. 4. Provide customer service through key card and access management, including lock outs. 5. Attend RA training session. 6. Assist students with building compliance around safety/health standards. 7. Provide daily reports to the Assistant Director of the Upward Bound Program.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Junior, Senior, or graduate level student at Shepherd University. 2. Preferably having worked one semester as an RA. 3. Be in good Student Conduct standing with the Residence Life Office and the University. 4. Must live in the residence halls during the required time
Preferred Qualifications
1. Previous employment in a TRIO Program.
2. Ability to plan and implement activities to perform with small and large groups of students. 3. Be an alum of a TRIO Program.
4. Previous RA experience. 5. Someone who has overcome barriers similar to those barriers faced by first-generation students.
6. Have the sensitivity for working with the Upward Bound eligible and diverse student populations.
