They play an active role in protecting our youth by practicing safe food handling and cleanliness. Proper and adequate nutrition aids in our three priority outcomes: academic success, good character and citizenship, and healthy lifestyles. Youth Development Professionals help to ensure that every Club Member has an Optimal Club Experience.Successful Youth Development Professionals have a passion for serving others and contributing to the wellbeing of the community at large. They have the ability to connect with young people and offer supportive relationships. They are team players willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that Club Members are safe, recognized, and given the opportunity to learn new skills.The Perks!Monday through Friday work schedule: no late nights or weekends required, great for student/work/life balanceProfessional development: mentorship with industry leaders, organization-wide training, and professional development scholarshipsImpact and growth: make a difference in the community and the lives of the youth we serve while gaining skills and experienceEnjoy three summer Club closure dates: Juneteenth, Independence Day, and Pioneer DayKey Roles (Essential Job Responsibilities):Establish rapport with youth ages 6-18 and provide fun, meaningful meal servicesPrepare and serve meals and snacks daily according to food program requirements, menus, and product provided from available inventory and donated goodsMonitor food inventory and communicate which food items are available and need to be utilizedComplete required daily meal service records and documentation, with both paper and online recordsEnsure kitchen operations meet Utah Health Department standards and Food Bank meal service requirementsPerform a variety of cleaning duties:Clean food preparation and service areas (sweep, mop, clean sinks and counters)DishwashingClean cafeteria tables with approved bleach solutionsWash towels and apronsPeriodic cleaning of storage areas, refrigerators, freezer, oven, stove, and shelvingFollow strict hygiene and safety practicesNeeded Knowledge:Able to learn and navigate required nutrition and meal service websitesAble to perform basic computer tasks and read and follow written instructionsSelf-motivated, able to work independently with minimal supervisionStrong organizational skills and attention to detailWillingness to learn and implement Trauma-Informed Practices to create an environment of safety, awareness, trust, and empathy with youth and fellow staff membersSocial-emotional competencies: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision‑makingAbility to work in high‑energy, loud, and active settings with large groups of youth and teensExcellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with Club Members, peers, etc.Some group management skills are an advantage in this roleRequirements:Willing to acquire and maintain a current Food Handler PermitMust be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screeningAble to stand for extended periods of time (5 hours consecutively)Able to lift up to 50lbs sporadically throughout work shiftMust be able to bend, kneel, reach, stretch, etc. throughout a regular work shift18 years and overPreferred qualifications:About Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Salt LakeAt Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake, diversity is the heart and soul of our history, the populations we serve, and our mission.
