JOB SUMMARY: The Painter performs all general duties associated with the painting profession including prepping, sanding, cleaning, spraying, and applying coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to finish, decorate, and protect the surfaces of buildings, other structures, fixtures, equipment, machinery, and furnishings.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: (NOTE: The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.)

Maintains a pattern of prompt and regular attendance

Follows good safety practices

Prepares areas for painting, including cleaning, scraping, sanding, covering (to protect from drips and over-spray), and moving furniture and equipment

Prepares a variety of surfaces by pressure washing, wet blasting, or sand blasting

Seals and waterproofs as appropriate before and/or after painting

Performs highly skilled finishing work involving delicate color matching, hand mixing, and spray finishing

Assesses, designs, and lays out striping for parking lots, tracks, gym floors, outdoor courts, and shop equipment

Performs emergency/vandalism repairs

Operates and uses a variety of equipment, including but not limited to, bucket truck, hi-lift platforms, scissor lift platforms, ladders, pressure washer, airless
