    Description

    Sunset — Growth Marketer

Type: Full-time | On-site | New York City, NY (Dumbo, Brooklyn) Compensation: $175,000–$235,000 + Competitive Equity Hiring count: 1 Visa sponsorship: None available Reports to: Founder

    About Sunset

Sunset was founded to help founders — it started by supporting startups through shutting down and has since expanded into unlocking a new revenue stream for all kinds of businesses. The underlying insight: the data every company generates day to day (collaboration, communication, building) is some of the most valuable training data in the world, and the next generation of frontier-model progress depends on real, proprietary data grounded in how actual businesses operate. Sunset is a primary source of that data, partnering directly with the frontier AI labs building what comes next.

The company has scaled from $0 to a multi-million run rate in a matter of months, doing multiple million in revenue in a single recent month, and recently raised again. It works with essentially all of the frontier labs, frontier data labelers, and RL environment teams.

Founded: 2023 | Team size: 11–50 (more than doubling now, ~14–15 additional engineers planned) | Backing: Floodgate, Afore, Ludlow, Hustle Fund Industry: Listed as Legal Tech; business spans startup wind-downs + AI training-data partnerships Website: sunsethq.com Office: New York City (Dumbo, Brooklyn)

    Why Candidates Should Join

    • Ground-floor seat at a category-defining business: $0 to multi-million run rate in months, backed by top-tier investors, works with essentially every frontier lab.
    • Own the acquisition engine end-to-end: the majority of pipeline is referral-driven today; this hire builds top-of-funnel from the ground up across both the Wind-Down and Data Partnerships motions.
    • Direct line to the Founder: reports straight to the founder, with real autonomy and a build-it-yourself mandate.

    Intake Call Summary

    • Not available — the role page includes an intake video only, with no transcript to summarize.

    The Role

Sunset needs to grow faster and more predictably than its referral-driven pipeline (VCs, lawyers, founders, CFOs) currently allows. The Growth Marketer will build an acquisition engine across both motions — Wind-Down and Data Partnerships — owning top-of-funnel growth end to end.

    What You'll Be Doing

    • Own top-of-funnel growth end to end: pick channels, run experiments, and scale what works
    • Generate qualified marketing leads (MQLs) for both the Wind-Down and Data Partnerships motions
    • Build and ship your own landing pages, campaigns, and workflows using AI tools, rather than waiting on a dedicated design or engineering team
    • Make fast calls with incomplete data: kill what is not working quickly, double down on what is
    • Track and report your own results honestly

This is a hands-on, build-it-yourself role, not a brief-and-delegate one. The single measured goal is MQLs across both products (whether leads close is out of the marketer's control). The inbound this role generates is also what turns on lead flow for the Data Partnerships team, which today runs almost entirely on outbound.

Tech stack: AI tools for building landing pages, campaigns, workflows, and automations (candidate's choice / self-sufficient)

    Requirements

    • Own top-of-funnel growth end-to-end across paid, SEO/AEO/GEO, content, and web channels
    • Generate qualified marketing leads for Wind-down and Data Partnerships motions
    • Build and ship landing pages, campaigns, and workflows using AI tools independently
    • Make fast decisions with incomplete data and kill underperforming initiatives quickly
    • Track and report results honestly with strong data measurement practices
    • Work in-person 5 days a week from Dumbo office
    • 3-5+ years in growth or performance marketing at early-stage companies owning channels end-to-end
    • Thrive in ambiguity with no fixed playbook
    • Demonstrate creative and technical self-sufficiency building real things with AI tools
    • Experiment broadly across channels rather than specializing narrowly
    • Be data-literate and read your own results to identify what works

    Green Flags

    • 3-5+ years in growth or performance marketing at an early-stage company where they owned channels end to end
    • Concrete, measurable track record of increasing MQLs through their own work, not someone they briefed
    • Builds real things themselves (landing pages, campaigns, workflows, automations) with AI tools
    • Broad experimenter across paid, SEO/AEO/GEO, content, and web, always testing new channels rather than going deep on one
    • Data-literate and decisive in ambiguity: reads their own results, kills what is not working fast, doubles down on what is

    Red Flags

    • Seeks a work-life-balance environment; the culture is high-intensity and expects candidates who want to work hard and get after it
    • Has never actually driven MQLs and cannot point to measurable lift from their own work
    • Relies on briefing a design or engineering team rather than building landing pages and workflows themselves
    • Narrow single-channel specialist (for example pure SEO) without breadth or an experimentation mindset
    • Needs a fixed playbook and struggles to make fast decisions with incomplete data
