Location: Bakersfield

Job Type: Full-Time

Compensation: $90,000-155,000 a year plus per diem

Position Summary

Ganem Construction is seeking an experienced Superintendent to oversee field operations for commercial construction projects. This position is responsible for managing daily construction activities, maintaining project schedules, promoting jobsite safety, coordinating subcontractors, and delivering quality projects on time and within budget.

This role works closely with Project Managers, Senior Superintendents, owners, architects, engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors throughout the construction process.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily field operations on commercial construction projects.
  • Promote and enforce safe work practices while ensuring compliance with company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and inspection agencies.
  • Monitor project schedules and collaborate with Project Managers to maintain project milestones.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
  • Conduct daily site inspections to monitor quality, safety, productivity, and progress.
  • Identify project issues and communicate solutions promptly.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, punch lists, as-built documentation, and project records.
  • Ensure subcontractors meet contractual, safety, and quality requirements before beginning work.
  • Maintain organized, clean, and professional jobsites.
  • Build positive working relationships with clients, project teams, subcontractors, and consultants.
  • Support successful project closeout and warranty activities.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of commercial construction superintendent experience
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project)
  • Experience using Procore
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • Valid CPR certification
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field
  • LEED AP credential or LEED training
  • Self Storage experience

Physical Requirements

This position requires standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Candidates should be able to safely perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
