Position Overview
Our client is seeking a Superintendent to lead commercial construction projects from mobilization through closeout. This role owns day-to-day field execution, including site planning, subcontractor coordination, schedule control, safety, quality, documentation, inspections, and communication with project stakeholders. The Superintendent will be accountable for keeping work aligned with drawings, specifications, budget expectations, and project milestones while maintaining an organized and professional jobsite.
The ideal candidate brings strong commercial construction experience, practical field judgment, and the ability to coordinate multiple trades with clarity and accountability. This role is well suited for a Superintendent who can carry projects independently, communicate directly with owners, design teams, subcontractors, and internal project teams, and contribute to a growing field operation that is investing in stronger systems, larger projects, and long-term team development.
Why Join Our Client?
Our client is a growing commercial general contractor serving multiple private-sector markets across Texas. The company is expanding beyond its established project base into larger and more complex commercial work, creating a need for field leaders who can bring disciplined planning, strong trade coordination, and a high standard for execution to each jobsite.
This is a strong fit for a Superintendent who wants meaningful field ownership without becoming just another number in a large organization. The company is strengthening its leadership team, building more support around its field staff, and working toward a structure that allows Superintendents to travel when needed while increasingly supporting better project coverage and work-life balance as the team grows.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily field operations, trade coordination, site logistics, safety execution, and quality control from project start through closeout.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, three-week look-aheads, manpower expectations, milestone tracking, and weekly updates.
- Review drawings, specifications, permits, submittals, RFIs, inspections, and change-related documentation to identify issues early and keep work aligned.
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, deliveries, inspections, and site services to maintain productivity and reduce rework.
- Monitor field progress, verify work in place, document delays or scope issues, and provide accurate input to project management teams.
- Maintain clean, secure, organized jobsites while enforcing company safety standards and applicable OSHA requirements.
- Communicate clearly with clients, design teams, subcontractors, field staff, and internal project teams to resolve issues and confirm expectations.
- Prepare thorough daily reports with photos, site activity, deliveries, visitors, safety observations, issues, and potential changes.
Requirements
- 3+ years of commercial construction superintendent experience, with consideration for more senior candidates who bring broader field leadership experience.
- Experience managing ground-up, tenant improvement, renovation, or buildout projects in commercial construction.
- Ability to coordinate multiple subcontractors simultaneously while keeping trades sequenced, productive, and accountable.
- Strong working knowledge of construction means and methods, schedule management, quality control, site safety, and field documentation.
- Proficiency using Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, or comparable construction technology and documentation tools.
- Ability to travel regularly across Texas and work on active jobsites as project needs require.
- Valid driver's license and ability to work in varying weather and site conditions, including occasional lifting up to 75 lbs.
- Clear, professional communication skills with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, field teams, and office staff.
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 30 certification.
- Bilingual communication skills in English and Spanish.
- Experience with retail, restaurant, office, medical, light industrial, or similar private commercial projects.
- Experience with larger ground-up commercial projects, tilt-wall construction, or multi-building project scopes.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor Assistant Superintendents, field staff, or less-experienced team members without requiring direct supervisory authority.
