The Nicholas County School System is composed of the Nicholas County Elementary School, Grades Pre K-6, Nicholas County High School, Grades 7-12, and a Family Resource Youth Service Center. All schools, offices, bus facilities, athletic facilities, labs, and mobile units are located on one campus.

The Nicholas County Board of Education is seeking a passionate educational leader who has strong proven leadership skills to continue the tradition of student achievement as the districts next superintendent. The successful candidate should have experience as an instructional leader with strong knowledge of Kentucky school finances. Along with being an innovator & an effective motivator, candidates should have a strong knowledge of best practice in instructional leadership for enhancing student achievement. It is important for the candidate to have the ability to effectively communicate & meet the needs of all students and staff in a fair & consistent manner.
Nicholas County with its beautiful landscapes of gently rolling hills is only a 40-mile drive along US Highway 68 from Lexington. Its superb location enables residents to travel only 75 miles north to Cincinnati. Carlisle is home to Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park.
