Description
A well-established New England general contractor, based in Arlington, MA, is seeking an experienced construction professional to lead public works and government building projects. Our firm specializes in state and federal government facilities, historical building restorations, multi-family renovations, and building envelope work across Massachusetts and New England. We are DCAMM certified and have over 30 years of experience serving public-sector clients including state agencies, the National Park Service, USPS, and municipal governments.
What We Do:
General contracting for public works, government-owned facilities, and academic institutions
Certified historical building restorations (including landmarks like Cambridge City Hall and Faneuil Hall)
Multi-family and mixed-use renovations, including public and affordable housing
Building envelope and exterior renovations (siding, windows, roofing, masonry, waterproofing)
Building systems upgrades (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire suppression)
Self-perform capabilities in carpentry, painting, masonry, and waterproofing
Responsibilities:
Manage all phases of government and public works construction, from pre-construction through closeout
Oversee project scheduling, budgeting, subcontractor coordination, and quality control
Ensure strict compliance with DCAMM requirements, prevailing wage laws, and state/federal regulations
Maintain thorough documentation and reporting for public-sector contract compliance
Serve as the primary point of contact between the company, project owners, architects, and government agencies
Coordinate in-house trades and subcontractors to deliver projects on time and within budget
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial construction, with a proven background in public works and government building projects
Working knowledge of Massachusetts public bidding laws, DCAMM certification requirements, and government contracting procedures
Strong track record of delivering complex projects on schedule and within budget
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
Experience with historical restoration or multi-family renovations is a plus
