Job Description

Job Title

Site Manager

About Our Client

A fifth-generation, family-owned commercial contractor founded in Madison in 1875, with a long-standing reputation across Wisconsin. The company works across commercial, industrial/manufacturing, education, healthcare/senior living, religious, government and science/technology markets, giving Superintendents exposure to technically challenging projects rather than repetitive work. The company has deliberately stayed in the mid-market sweet spot: enough resources, technology and infrastructure to tackle complicated projects, but small enough that good people have autonomy and visibility with leadership. Their current team is approximately 120 employees, and they've continued growing while maintaining a strong emphasis on long-term careers and internal relationships.

Job Description

Own field operations from project start through completion. Lead scheduling, sequencing, subcontractor coordination, and daily site activities. Maintain accountability for safety, quality, schedule, manpower and materials. Review plans/specs and proactively identify constructability issues and conflicts. Coordinate with PMs, owners, architects, engineers and trade partners. Lead site meetings and maintain short-term and master schedules. Monitor productivity, deliveries and overall jobsite progress. Drive quality control, safety and project closeout. Mentor Foremen and field personnel. Serve as the face of the company in the field, building strong owner and subcontractor relationships. Leverage BIM/VDC and construction technology to improve coordination and reduce field issues.

MPI does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or based on an individual's status in any group or class protected by applicable federal, state or local law. MPI encourages applications from minorities, women, the disabled, protected veterans and all other qualified applicants.

The Successful Applicant

5+ years of commercial construction experience, ideally with Superintendent experience. Proven ability to run a commercial project independently. Experience leading projects in the $5M-$30M range. Strong understanding of sequencing, scheduling, plans/specs and construction means & methods. Experience coordinating multiple trades on complex commercial projects. Strong subcontractor and field-management skills. Someone who can walk onto a jobsite and take control without needing to be micromanaged. Strong communication skills with owners, architects, PMs and subcontractors. A problem-solver, not someone who waits for the PM or executive team to solve field issues. High standards around safety and quality. Comfortable using modern construction technology, including BIM/VDC. Experience with ground-up commercial, industrial, healthcare, education or other complex projects is highly valuable.

What's on Offer

130-150k base salary. The best of both worlds: mid-market autonomy with the resources of a much larger contractor. 14% headcount growth over the last two years. Stable business supported by a deep base of repeat clients and long-standing relationships. Exposure to complex, award-winning projects across multiple markets. Average employee tenure of approximately 6.1 years. Strong relationships between field leadership, PMs and company leadership. Health, dental and vision insurance. 401(k) with company match. PTO and paid holidays. Training and continuing education. Mentorship and on-the-job development. Madison-based work with the ability to be home every night.
