Superintendent -Healthcare Construction
Location: Nashville, TN
Travel: Project dependent; travel may be required
Position Overview
Project Resource Collective is seeking experienced Superintendents for a nationally recognized general contractor supporting major healthcare construction projects throughout the Nashville region and potentially other markets.
This position will provide overall field leadership, coordination, planning, and supervision of construction activities. Depending on experience level, the Superintendent will lead specific areas or disciplines of a project and coordinate assistant superintendents, subcontractors, craft personnel, and other project partners.
The ideal candidate is a strong field leader who can anticipate project challenges, solve problems proactively, coordinate effectively with project management and trade partners, and drive complex healthcare projects safely and efficiently from preconstruction through closeout.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day leadership and overall management of field construction activities.
- Coordinate assistant superintendents, subcontractors, craft labor, foremen, and other field personnel.
- Plan and implement field activities to ensure materials, equipment, inspections, and other resources support the project schedule.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, short-term look-ahead schedules, work plans, and site logistics plans.
- Review drawings, specifications, and construction documents for completeness, constructability, and potential conflicts.
- Coordinate plans and specifications with project management, design teams, engineers, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Manage site logistics, sequencing, equipment utilization, work areas, and field resources.
- Monitor field production and work progress to ensure project milestones and schedule requirements are achieved.
- Lead planning sessions, orientations, coordination meetings, and project site meetings.
- Supervise project partners and provide direction, coaching, and feedback to field team members.
- Participate in interviewing, hiring, workforce planning, training, performance management, and employee development.
- Coach, mentor, and develop Assistant Superintendents and other field team members.
- Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, schedule, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
- Identify and mitigate potential safety, quality, constructability, and schedule issues before they impact the project.
- Ensure work activities are properly planned, tracked, and documented.
- Build productive relationships with owners, healthcare representatives, architects, engineers, subcontractors, trade partners, and other project stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement and identify opportunities to improve field operations, logistics, productivity, and project execution.
- Support projects throughout the full construction lifecycle, from development and preconstruction through commissioning and closeout.
Qualifications
Qualifications will vary depending on the level of the position.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Construction, or a related field preferred or 10+ years of significant construction trade experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Superintendent I: Minimum 5+ years of construction management or related field leadership experience.
- Superintendent II: Minimum 8+ years of construction management or related field leadership experience.
- Healthcare construction experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience managing complex commercial, institutional, healthcare, or other large-scale construction projects from development through closeout.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects or major scopes from initial planning through final completion.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, site logistics, constructability, and field operations.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, contracts, and other construction documents.
- Basic understanding of construction law and standard construction business practices.
- Strong knowledge of construction safety, quality, risk management, and generally accepted construction practices.
- Proven ability to lead subcontractors, craft personnel, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
- Excellent communication, active listening, leadership, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
- Professional, proactive, and solutions-oriented approach to project challenges.
- Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office and common construction management tools.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to travel based on project requirements.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
Compensation
Compensation will be based on experience and the level at which the candidate is hired.
Approximate Base Salary Range: $111,400 – $200,000+
The position is also eligible for an incentive/bonus program, vehicle benefit, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Candidates may be considered at the Superintendent I or Superintendent II or Senior Superintendent level based on their experience, project history, healthcare construction background, leadership responsibilities, and overall qualifications.
