Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to oversee and deliver restaurant, quick-service restaurant (QSR), tenant improvement (T.I.) and medical office projects, as well as ground-up construction. The Superintendent will lead on-site operations from pre-construction through closeout, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget and to required quality standards. This role requires strong coordination with project management, trade partners, clients and inspectors, and a hands-on leader who can problem-solve on fast-paced hospitality and healthcare projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day field operations for multiple projects, including restaurants, QSR, medical offices, tenant improvements (T.I.) and ground-up builds.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, trades and on-site staff to ensure work is completed to specifications, on schedule and safely.
- Manage and maintain project schedules, sequencing trade work and adjusting workflows to meet milestones and delivery dates.
- Oversee quality control, ensuring completed work meets contract documents, drawing specifications and client expectations.
- Enforce jobsite safety protocols and maintain OSHA-compliant practices; conduct toolbox talks and safety inspections.
- Review plans, shop drawings and submittals; identify constructability issues and coordinate solutions with project team and design professionals.
- Prepare and manage daily reports, progress documentation, RFIs and field change directives; assist with change order documentation and pricing as needed.
- Coordinate with local authorities for permits and inspections and ensure timely resolution of punchlist items to achieve final acceptance.
- Maintain strong client relations through regular on-site updates, meetings and professional communication.
- Utilize project management platforms (Procore preferred) to track documents, photos, schedules and communications; drive accurate project record keeping.
- Mentor and develop field personnel to promote productivity, quality and adherence to company standards.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of recent experience as a Construction Superintendent on restaurant and QSR projects, with demonstrated experience in tenant improvement (T.I.), medical office fit-outs and ground-up construction.
- Proven track record delivering projects on time and within budget while maintaining high quality and safety standards.
- Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and shop drawings.
- Experience coordinating multiple subcontractors and managing complex project schedules.
- Familiarity with commercial and retail construction markets is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with Procore or similar construction management software preferred.
- Working knowledge of permitting and inspection processes, building codes and regulatory requirements for healthcare and foodservice facilities.
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation; ability to travel regularly to project sites.
- Excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills; ability to lead positive client and trade relationships.
- OSHA 30-hour construction safety certification preferred; CPR/first aid a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; construction-related degree, certificate or trade background preferred.
