Job Description

Superintendent / Senior Superintendent – High-End Custom Residential (Commercial GC Background)
Los Angeles / South Bay

About the Opportunity

The question here isn't whether you've built houses. It's whether you've owned a jobsite.

Big League Talent Co. is representing a high-end custom residential general contractor in the Los Angeles and South Bay market, and it is deliberately recruiting superintendents from the commercial construction world. The reason is scale. Major renovations run around $10M, the average ground-up project is approximately $20M–$30M, and larger ground-up projects reach $30M–$40M. These projects are substantially larger and more operationally complex than typical custom-home work, and they call for someone who already knows how to run a serious site.

The firm's view is simple: it can teach a proven superintendent how it builds a house. It doesn't want to teach someone how to run a construction site.

The Role

You will lead field operations on complex residential projects in the $10M–$40M range. You'll own the schedule, the trades, the sequencing, the logistics and the push to completion. You'll bring the discipline you've built on commercial projects, and the company will add the craftsmanship and finish expectations that define ultra-high-end residential work.

The firm understands that an outstanding commercial superintendent may not yet know every nuance of an ultra-luxury residence. It is prepared to support that transition, for example by pairing you with a superintendent experienced in high-end residential finishes.

What You'll Get to Accomplish

  • Own and drive the master schedule, forecasting upcoming work and pushing each project toward its milestones and completion.
  • Run weekly subcontractor meetings, coordinate many trades at once, and hold trade partners accountable for their commitments.
  • Sequence complicated scopes and manage site logistics and manpower on projects with commercial-level complexity.
  • Read plans closely and catch conflicts before they reach the field.
  • Coordinate inspections and maintain safety standards across the jobsite.
  • Serve as the field leader for project managers, ownership and design teams, and solve problems without needing constant direction.
  • Apply your operational foundation to high-end residential craftsmanship and finish expectations as you learn the firm's approach.

What You'll Bring

  • 10+ years as a Superintendent or Senior Superintendent with established commercial general contractors.
  • Direct, personal responsibility for running projects, ideally in the $10M–$50M range. What matters is the portion of the work you personally owned, not the size of the largest project on your resume.
  • Ground-up experience is strongly preferred.
  • A career history showing steadily increasing responsibility.
  • Backgrounds that translate especially well include hospitality, luxury retail, commercial ground-up, private schools and higher education, museums and cultural work, creative office and entertainment, country clubs, mixed-use, boutique multifamily, and complex renovations or adaptive reuse.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Procore and Primavera P6, and experience with occupied renovations or design-build, is valued.
  • Luxury residential experience is a plus, but it is not required.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • Commercial-scale work, residential craftsmanship. You'll run $10M–$40M projects while adding a new level of finish expertise to your skill set.
  • Your experience is the qualification. The company is specifically seeking the operator skills commercial superintendents have. You won't be asked to start over.
  • Support where you need it. The firm is prepared to help you learn the residential finish side instead of expecting you to know it on day one.
  • A path to General Superintendent. For the right person, this role could lead to a General Superintendent position.
  • Built for exceptional people. The company has an active need for a superintendent, and it has made clear it will make room for an exceptional candidate.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary of $160K–$220K, depending on experience and seniority
  • Annual bonus
  • Full medical
  • Auto allowance
  • Gas card
  • Potential truck benefit or bonus after approximately five years with the company

Candidates must have personally run commercial construction projects as the superintendent in charge to be considered.
