Job Description
DIHO Consulting USA LLC is seeking an experienced Superintendent / Quality Assurance & Quality Control (QAQC) professional for a commercial construction company in the Greater Houston area.
This hybrid position combines field superintendent responsibilities with construction quality assurance and quality control oversight. The ideal candidate is a proactive, experienced field leader who can independently oversee multiple commercial construction projects, coordinate subcontractors, maintain project schedules, ensure quality and safety compliance, and communicate effectively with project management and clients.
The position involves supervision, coordination, and quality oversight rather than performing hands-on construction trade work.
Key Responsibilities
Construction Supervision & Field Operations
- Oversee daily construction activities across multiple active commercial construction projects.
- Coordinate subcontractors, field personnel, vendors, deliveries, inspections, and site activities.
- Manage projects through preconstruction, mobilization, active construction, punch lists, and final closeout.
- Develop and maintain short-term schedules and look-ahead schedules, identifying potential delays and coordinating recovery plans.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, approved submittals, scopes of work, and project requirements.
- Conduct regular site walks to monitor workmanship, manpower, progress, housekeeping, and site conditions.
- Hold subcontractors accountable for schedules, manpower, workmanship, safety, cleanup, and contracted work.
- Identify field issues early and coordinate solutions with project management.
- Maintain detailed daily reports, including manpower, work completed, photographs, deliveries, inspections, delays, safety observations, and outstanding items.
- Document unforeseen conditions, potential change orders, and work outside the original scope.
- Participate in preconstruction meetings, project turnover meetings, site walks, and coordination meetings.
- Communicate professionally with owners, architects, inspectors, consultants, and subcontractors.
Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QAQC)
- Perform routine construction quality inspections throughout all project phases.
- Verify construction work complies with approved drawings, specifications, materials, submittals, and quality standards.
- Identify deficiencies and coordinate corrective actions with subcontractors.
- Maintain accurate inspection records, photographs, deficiency logs, and supporting documentation.
- Track punch-list items and verify completion before requesting reinspection.
- Coordinate required inspections with project teams and appropriate authorities.
- Verify that installed materials comply with approved submittals and specifications.
- Prevent installation of materials requiring approval until the appropriate approvals are obtained.
- Support project closeout, including final inspections, punch lists, warranties, O&M documentation, photographs, and other required deliverables.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce company and project-specific safety procedures.
- Conduct regular safety observations and ensure proper PPE, fall protection, housekeeping, and safe work practices.
- Identify and immediately address unsafe conditions.
- Document and report incidents, near misses, and safety concerns.
- Conduct or support toolbox talks, JHA/JSA reviews, and subcontractor safety coordination.
- Stop work when an imminent safety hazard exists and notify project leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of commercial construction field experience.
- At least 2 years in a Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, QAQC, or comparable field leadership position.
- Experience performing or supporting construction quality assurance and quality control.
- Proven ability to coordinate multiple subcontractors and manage multiple active projects simultaneously.
- Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, sequencing, scheduling, and field operations.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and approved submittals.
- Experience with daily field reports, quality inspections, documentation, and corrective actions.
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to identify construction issues proactively and coordinate effective solutions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, PDF drawings, smartphones, tablets, and electronic construction documentation.
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel between Houston-area project sites.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends when project schedules require.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred; must be willing to obtain certification within the company's required timeframe.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with commercial renovations and occupied-facility construction.
- Experience with educational, institutional, or similar facilities.
- Familiarity with Job Order Contracting (JOC) and fast-turn construction projects.
- Experience managing inspections, punch lists, project closeout, and owner walkthroughs.
- Knowledge of construction codes, permitting, inspection processes, and quality-control procedures.
- Additional construction safety or QAQC certifications.
- Ability to perform field measurements, verify quantities, identify constructability concerns, and assist project managers with scope validation.
Estimating experience is not required.
Work Environment & Schedule
This is a field-based position supporting commercial construction projects throughout the Greater Houston area.
Candidates must be comfortable working on active construction sites, walking jobsites, climbing stairs or ladders, and traveling between multiple project locations.
Work schedules may vary depending on project requirements and may include early mornings, evenings, nights, or weekends.
Occasional travel outside the Houston area may be required. Applicable travel and per diem arrangements will follow company policy.
