Position Summary
DIHO Consulting is seeking an experienced Superintendent / QAQC professional for a commercial construction opportunity in the Houston area.
This hybrid position combines field superintendent responsibilities with Quality Assurance / Quality Control oversight. The ideal candidate will have strong construction field experience, the ability to coordinate daily site activities, and a solid understanding of construction quality standards, inspections, documentation, and project compliance.
Estimating experience is not required for this position.
Key Responsibilities
Superintendent Responsibilities
- Oversee daily construction activities at assigned project sites.
- Coordinate subcontractors, field personnel, vendors, and project activities.
- Monitor project progress and help ensure work remains on schedule.
- Review construction plans, specifications, and project requirements.
- Conduct routine site walks and monitor workmanship.
- Coordinate with project management and field teams regarding daily activities and project needs.
- Identify field issues and assist in developing practical solutions.
- Maintain organized daily reports and field documentation.
- Help ensure subcontractors and field teams comply with project requirements and site expectations.
- Support jobsite safety standards and communicate concerns when identified.
QA/QC Responsibilities
- Monitor construction activities for compliance with project specifications, drawings, approved materials, and quality standards.
- Perform routine quality inspections throughout various phases of construction.
- Identify deficiencies, incomplete work, or quality concerns and coordinate corrective actions.
- Maintain QA/QC inspection records and supporting documentation.
- Track punch-list items and confirm completion of corrective work.
- Coordinate required inspections with project teams, subcontractors, and other appropriate parties.
- Review installed work for conformity with project requirements before final acceptance.
- Assist with project closeout documentation and quality-related records.
- Communicate quality concerns clearly to field leadership and project management.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Construction Superintendent or in a comparable field leadership role.
- Experience performing or supporting construction QA/QC responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of commercial construction practices and field operations.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and project documentation.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to identify construction deficiencies and communicate corrective actions effectively.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to coordinate multiple subcontractors and project priorities.
- Comfortable working primarily in an active construction-site environment.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project locations throughout the Houston area as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in commercial construction projects.
- Experience with inspections, punch lists, project closeout, and quality documentation.
- Familiarity with applicable construction codes and quality-control processes.
- OSHA or other applicable construction safety certifications are preferred.
Work Environment
This position will primarily work in active construction environments throughout the Houston area and may require walking jobsites, climbing stairs or ladders, and working around typical construction-site conditions.
Compensation will be based on experience and the specific requirements of the position.
