Superintendent Opportunity

Rapidly growing SPG division with tons of growth potential
A well-established and highly respected commercial General Contractor is looking to add a Superintendent to its growing Special Projects Group in Los Angeles. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercial Superintendent who enjoys fast-paced, technically challenging projects and prefers the variety of Special Projects work over long-duration ground-up construction. The Special Projects Group focuses on commercial Tenant Improvement and renovation projects typically valued at $10M and under. Projects generally run approximately 16 weeks, creating an environment where schedules move quickly, decisions need to be made in real time, and strong field leadership is critical. The group works across a diverse portfolio of industries, including Aerospace, Retail, Advanced Technology / Fuel Cell, Occupied Facilities, Campus Improvements, and other specialized commercial interiors and renovations.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record managing this type of fast-paced commercial work and will be comfortable taking ownership of field operations from mobilization through closeout.
Job Description
Lead daily field operations from project mobilization through completion.
Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and multiple trades.
Develop and maintain short-term and overall project schedules.
Run daily meetings and coordinate upcoming activities.
Monitor project progress and identify potential schedule issues.
Work closely with the Project Manager to resolve field issues.
Coordinate construction activities within occupied facilities and active environments.
Maintain high standards for safety, quality, and jobsite organization.
Communicate directly with clients, architects, consultants, and subcontractors.
Review plans and specifications and identify conflicts or constructability concerns.
Track manpower, production, and project progress.
Coordinate inspections and project milestones.
Manage punch list and project closeout activities.
Because these projects typically run approximately 16 weeks, the Superintendent must be highly organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-moving environment.

The Successful Applicant
What We're Looking For
5+ years of commercial construction experience with significant Superintendent or field leadership experience.
Strong experience managing commercial Tenant Improvement / Special Projects.
Proven track record managing projects with aggressive schedules.
Experience on projects generally $10M or less.
Strong subcontractor and trade coordination skills.
Ability to quickly identify and resolve field issues.
Strong communication and leadership skills.
Experience working in occupied facilities or active environments is highly desirable.
Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a high-paced environment.
Strong understanding of safety, quality control, scheduling, and project coordination.
The Ideal Background: The strongest candidates will have experience with Tenant Improvements, Commercial Interiors, Commercial Renovations, Retail, Aerospace, Advanced Technology, Fuel Cell / Technical Facilities, Campus Improvements, Occupied Facility Renovations, and other specialized commercial environments. Candidates coming from a commercial General Contractor or specialty contractor with a strong TI/Special Projects portfolio will be highly relevant.
