Position SummaryThe Supervising ElderAccessLine Attorney plays a key leadership role within the Centralized Intake Unit (CIU), providing legal guidance, supervision, and strategic direction to attorneys and paralegals serving older Nebraskans.This role combines legal analysis, client guidance, staff mentorship, intake oversight, and community engagement. The attorney will help ensure clients receive high-quality legal information and services while supporting efficient statewide intake operations.Essential ResponsibilitiesEvaluate Centralized Intake Unit applications to determine eligibility and level of serviceConduct legal research, client interviews, and fact gathering to provide legal advice and recommendationsEducate clients regarding legal options, processes, and potential outcomesAssist in supervising, training, and mentoring intake paralegals and support staffHelp manage daily workflow and intake operationsEnsure compliance with Legal Services Corporation (LSC) regulations and record‑keeping requirementsMaintain current knowledge of legal issues affecting elders and low‑income communitiesSupport outreach and education efforts within the elder community statewideBuild and maintain relationships with partner agencies and community organizationsAssist in developing intake guidance materials, scripts, and documentationParticipate in AccessLine and ElderAccessLine call support as neededWork Environment & FlexibilityThis is a mostly remote position with flexible work arrangements. Attorneys may work from anywhere in Nebraska within 60 miles of a Legal Aid of Nebraska office.Occasional travel to Legal Aid offices, including Omaha, and limited statewide travel will be required.Candidates must be able to maintain a private, confidential workspace for remote work.QualificationsRequired QualificationsJuris Doctor from an accredited law schoolLicensed and in good standing with the Nebraska State Bar, or admission imminentExperience practicing law, preferably in elder law, legal aid, public interest, poverty law, or related client‑service workStrong communication and leadership skillsAbility to work collaboratively within a statewide team environmentCommitment to serving low‑income and older adult communitiesPreferred QualificationsPrior supervisory or mentoring experienceAwareness of legal issues affecting low‑income and elder populationsExperience working with vulnerable or underserved communitiesAttorneys returning to practice after a career break are encouraged to applyAbout the OpportunityThis role offers the chance to continue practicing law in a meaningful way while maintaining greater work‑life flexibility than many traditional legal positions.
