    • \n
    • The Supervisor, Advanced Practice Providers supervises advanced practice providers (APPs) (i.e., Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants etc.). Key responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, onboarding and mentorship of new staff, development, review, and implementation of unit specific competencies, and annual evaluations. This role also works directly with staff, administration, medical directors, and other relevant stakeholders to assure appropriate utilization of all APPs. The Supervisor, Advanced Practice Providers provides advocacy to all APPs and integrates current knowledge of professional issues, trends in health care and technological advances into scope of practice. This position participates in the collection of research data and quality improvement of patient care within the acute and outpatient care areas.

    CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

    • \n
    • Conducts or participates in multidisciplinary rounds and ensures appropriate and quality care for patients.
    • \n
    • Serves as a liaison and advocate between the APP and hospital leadership, department heads, and collaborating physicians.
    • \n
    • Assist APPs in clinical integration upon hire and throughout time of employment.
    • \n
    • Identifies APP learning needs and provides learning experiences to meet those needs. Integrates and informs APP of current knowledge of professional issues, trends in health care and technological advances into APPs scope of practice.
    • \n
    • Coordinates assignments of preceptors to advanced practice providers. Provides coordination of APP students with university liaisons.
    • \n
    • Identifies opportunities and challenges to promote full scope of practice in the advanced practice model.
    • \n
    • Ensures and coordinates standardization of advanced practice processes between patient care services and collaborative teams.
    • \n
    • Ensures compliance with regulatory and maintains credentialing, competencies, and professional standards for all APPs in the service line.
    • \n
    • Provides coordination of coverage during weekdays and weekends between satellites, hospitals, and outpatient areas.
    • \n
    • Engages and empowers staff by sharing decision-making, delegating, providing choice and fostering autonomy and adaptability. Leads and supports APP staff during periods of transition; communicates purpose and empowers staff to embrace change.
    • \n
    • Contributes to the design, development and implementation of strategic and operational initiatives. Leads staff during the implementation and evaluation of new initiatives at the unit, division and department level.
    • \n
    •  Prioritizes competing demands while integrating strategic plan into daily operations.
    • \n
    • Recruits, hires, and facilitates training and orientation. Manages, recognizes, and rewards performance. Provides ongoing formal and informal performance feedback.
    • \n
    • Collects data for patient and program evaluation and participates in quality assessment and improvement/patient experience activities.
    • \n
    • Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on the controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

    DEPARTMENT ADDENDUM

    Department Specific Functions

    \n
    • \n
    • Maintain direct communication with cardiology attending physicians.
    • \n
    • Work under the direct supervision of cardiologists.
    • \n
    • Collaborate with other departments to improve patient care and coordinate procedures
    • \n
    • Maintain a collaborative working relationship with department leadership to enhance department operation.
    • \n
    • Adhere to all cardiology department stress testing policies and protocols.
    • \n
    • Provide support to sonographers/cardiac ultrasound technologists, and stress test techs during stress testing and echocardiograms, including IV placement and medical management when required.
    • \n
    • Contact all patients scheduled for stress procedures or any other procedure requiring a medical provider the day prior to their exam to ensure proper medication management.
    • \n
    • Perform/Supervise all stress testing procedures and/or any other procedures in cardiology lab requiring a medical provider.
    • \n
    • Manage patient care during stress testing and contrast procedures.
    • \n
    • Coordinate and facilitate the transfer of cardiology lab patients to the hospital for continued care when necessary.
    • \n
    • Complete accurate and timely documentation for all cardiology lab procedures, transfers, or incident reports.
    • \n
    • Communicates with medical providers through electronic medical records, email, or telephone.
    • \n
    • Reports patient critical value to interpreting provider and supervising cardiologist.
    • \n
    • Conduct peer-to-peer reviews for clinical and insurance purposes.
    • \n
    • Oversee daily cardiology lab operations.
    • \n
    • Supervise cardiology lab staff, including participation in hiring, competency assessments, performance evaluations, training coordination, and other administrative responsibilities.
    • \n
    • Perform additional duties as assigned based on departmental needs.
    • \n
    \n

    Education:

    • Master’s degree in relevant field
    • \n

    Certification and Licensing:

    • Valid Florida Licensure in relevant field
    • \n
    • Board Certification
    • \n
    • BLS certification
    • \n
    • ACLS certification
    • \n
    \n

    Experience:

    \n
    • \n
    • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience. Cardiovascular experience preferred.
    • \n
    \n
