Job Summary:

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Supervises and supports Center counselors and Career Preparation Period (CPP) Specialists. Oversees program planning, staff development, and service delivery to ensure students receive quality career counseling, job readiness training, and employment support. Serves as the proxy for the Career Counseling Manager when necessary.

Job Duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provides oversight of the Career Preparation instructors and ensures the curriculum and materials used are current and align with education standards.
• Works with the Instructors to update the curriculum and materials that are used in the classrooms.
• Monitors the classroom instruction and addresses inconsistencies with instructor and students as needed.
• Reviews completed Career Pathway and updates as needed based on the student’s goals and objectives.
• Oversees the career preparation functions and assists with counseling aspects as needed to ensure maximum outcomes and compliance with the Department of Labor.
• Conducts focus groups with students regarding academic and career training transitions.
• Conducts pre-arrival calls to incoming students to ensure they are ready for admission and answer any questions they have.
• Participates in Pre-Arrival Meeting and conducts student intake within 48-hours of arrival to the Center.
• Conducts an evaluation with each CPP student thirty-five days after arrival.
• Provides oversight to students during their first sixty days at the center and communicates information and concerns with department and follows up accordingly.
• Facilitates each Career Management Team meeting to discuss the students’ transition to their Career Development Period.
• Confers with Center Counseling Manager and other Center staff regarding student concerns and needs.
• Provides training to staff as assigned.


LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY
• Leads and directs the work of other employees.
• Has some authority for personnel decisions related to hiring, performance, or disciplinary actions.
• Assignments received in broad terms with timelines and objectives set.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS
• Requires a Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university; no substitutions. Including 15 semester hours of instruction in social service-related instruction.
• At least 2 years of experience working with youth and young adults.
• Master’s degree with 4 years of experience preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required reach with hands and arms; The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS
The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).


May be required to possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets the requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.


Must be certified in CPR and maintain throughout employment. CPR may be obtained during orientation.


Required to meet and maintain periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.

 

Hours 7:45am to 4:45pm
