    JOB DESCRIPTION

Position descriptions are reviewed and revised to meet the changing needs of the organization. TITLE: Supervisor ED Patient Access

    JOB OVERVIEW: The Supervisor, ED Patient Access is responsible for ensuring the department meets patient and organizational expectations for access to care. This position supervises the day-to-day access operations and staff responsible for ED registrations, and patient intake processes. Responsibilities include adherence to standardized processes for registration procedures to ensure accurate data collection, a positive patient experience, and effective coordination between clinical and Revenue Cycle teams. This position is responsible for understanding, evaluating, and maintaining ED staff schedules to accommodate all patient flow volumes. The Supervisor position is responsible for identifying quality and workflow improvement opportunities, providing orientation and training of new staff, developing/maintaining educational programs, providing training to support staff skill development and ensuring accuracy and compliance in the department to operate efficiently and effectively. This role shall serve as a collaborator and subject matter expert. As such, they work in a professional manner, with a high level of patience, tolerance, and grace, with all departments throughout the organization. Understanding that there are an unlimited number of perspectives and motivations - all of which must be considered and respected. Work will be done with a EDI lens check in an effort to be culturally sensitive.

    DEPARTMENT: ED Patient Access

    WORK HOURS: 1.0 FTE Evening shift 5 PM - 1:30 AM and 1.0 FTE Day shift 4:30 AM - 1 PM. As required to fulfill responsibilities, including on-call availability outside core business hours (24X7). On call is one week at a time, 24/7 - call is shared with other patient access leaders, it is anticipated call would be approximately once every 4 weeks, barring any vacancies. This leader is expected to be on campus at the hospital at least 3 days per week, Monday through Friday during business hours.

    REPORTS TO: Manager, ED Patient Access

    PREREQUISITES:

    High School diploma or GED is required. Associates degree or B.A. or B.S. degree is preferred.

    Requires at least one (1) year experience as an Emergency Department lead or supervisor .

    Minimum two (2) or more years EPIC experience in Patient Financial Services or Patient Access setting, required.

    Minimum three (3) years experience overseeing Patient Access and Revenue Cycle processes in a complex billing environment, developing and managing customer service functions, and other supervisory experience preferred.

    Ability to use various computer applications, including Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Outlook required.

    Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language in an effective manner required.

    Proven analytical skills and problem solving techniques.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Demonstrates excellent team skills as a member or leader.

    Communicates effectively with staff to develop an effective team which promotes open communication between co-workers in a courteous and professional manner.

    Ability to analyze reports related to Patient Access.

    Able to use Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, and learn hospital, clinical and financial systems.

    Provides leadership and acts as a resource to departmental staff to ensure smooth operations of the day-to-day activities; and ensuring operational goals and customer needs are met.

    EPIC subject matter expert in ADT/Prelude and Cadence required.

    Knowledge of government and commercial health insurance programs and understands regulatory requirements. Specific knowledge of Washington
