    Position Summary

    The Food & Nutrition Supervisor is responsible for supervising the daily preparation and service of meals for patients, staff, and visitors. This position oversees all areas of the Food & Nutrition Services Department to ensure high-quality food production, exceptional customer service, compliance with food safety standards, and efficient department operations. The supervisor promotes a patient-centered environment while fostering teamwork, professionalism, and operational excellence.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Supervise the daily preparation, production, and service of meals for patients, employees, and visitors.
    • Coordinate workflow to ensure timely, safe, and efficient meal service throughout the department.
    • Monitor staff performance and provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to ensure quality service.
    • Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, infection prevention, and regulatory standards.
    • Maintain quality control for food preparation, portioning, presentation, and meal accuracy.
    • Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure therapeutic diets and physician diet orders are followed accurately.
    • Promote a positive, respectful, and collaborative work environment.
    • Demonstrate professionalism by supporting Relationship-Based Care and patient-centered service.
    • Respond promptly and professionally to patient, visitor, and staff concerns.
    • Support ongoing client and patient satisfaction by:
      • Returning phone calls and emails promptly.
      • Attending required meetings.
      • Demonstrating sensitivity to the healthcare environment.
      • Completing assigned projects accurately and on time.
      • Providing reliable and accurate information.
    • Assist with scheduling, staffing, training, and performance management of department employees.
    • Monitor department operations and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and customer satisfaction.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education and Experience

    • Associate degree from an accredited institution in Food Service Management, Dietetics, Culinary Arts, or a related field preferred.
    • OR a minimum of three (3) years of experience supervising a large-volume food service operation.
    • Previous supervisory experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
