Position Summary:
The Supervisor, Lab Assistants & Phlebotomy provides daily leadership and coordination for laboratory assistant and phlebotomy services across the Trinity Health Hospital Campus, Medical Office Building outpatient clinic, and additional off-site collection locations. This role ensures accurate and efficient specimen collection, labeling, processing, transport, and archiving to support high-quality laboratory testing. The supervisor manages staffing, workflow, training, and service coverage for a large, multi-site team while promoting consistency, safety, and excellent customer service. Through clear communication, supportive leadership, and operational oversight, this position enhances the patient experience and supports timely diagnostic services across all collection sites.

The Supervisor, Lab Assistants & Phlebotomy frequently stands, walks, and travels between collection areas to support staff and patient needs. The role requires performing venipuncture, handling specimens, and lifting or carrying supply boxes, transport bins, and equipment as needed. Adequate vision, hearing, fine motor skills, and manual dexterity are essential for safe specimen collection, labeling, and interaction with patients and staff.
Environmental Requirements:
Work is performed in inpatient units, outpatient clinics, and laboratory settings with routine exposure to blood and body fluids, infectious materials, chemicals, and standard medical equipment. The position requires adherence to all safety and infection-prevention protocols, including proper use of PPE. Variable workloads and rapid response needs may occur, requiring flexibility, safe prioritization, and effective communication in busy clinical environments.
