The Section Manager shall supervise the activities and operations of the nuclear medicine section of the radiology department to assure high quality provision of services. The clinical supervision shall include the application of appropriate quality control and standards for the ongoing review of services. Shall work closely with the Radiologists and other professional staff members to assure that the appropriate type and quality of clinical diagnostic procedures are available in the area of responsibility. Shall be involved in the resolution of clinical problems within the department and with the study and evaluation of new procedures. Shall evaluate and make recommendations for the purchase of clinical and technical equipment needed to provide progressive high quality imaging services. Performs the functions of interviewing, counseling, job performance appraisals, and recommends the hiring and firing of department staff. Shall be involved with record keeping of both statistics and patient charges of the department. Shall assist in the development of annual budgets for all areas of responsibility and maintain the areas within the established budget. Shall provide leadership in the ongoing education program for the employees in the department. Will establish, maintain, update and assist in the formulation of written policies and procedures. Will assist in the orientation of new employees. Will conduct special studies and participate in problem solving. Is responsible to assist in maintaining a comprehensive quality control and quality assurance program according to the guidelines of JCAHO, NRC and State Health department. Will assure the preventive maintenance program and repairs of all imaging equipment within assigned area is completed. Will keep abreast of new procedures, equipment and methods. Will be responsible for maintaining expendable supplies and radionuclides. Will be required to perform the duties of a nuclear medicine technologist and assist physicians in administering radiopharmaceuticals. May authorize overtime and callback as needed. Interprets orders for requested exams, and assists within all areas of radiology as needed. Functions as a cooperative team member as needed. May be responsible for specific areas of instruction with the University of Arkansas Fort Smith, School of Radiography. Maintains current CPR certification and assists in performing first aid as necessary. Remains current with credentialing agency required continuing education.

Education: Satisfactory completion of formal training in an approved nuclear medicine school and meets and maintains the requirements for registry by the Credentialing Body within the specific area of specialty. Possess proficiency in the areas of personnel management and departmental administration as determined to be adequate by the Department Director
Licensure:
Experience: Minimum of two years full-time professional work experience within a nuclear medicine department and has demonstrated leadership abilities. Has acquired experience and possesses capability as determined to be adequate by the Department Director.

Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 185 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who wanted to help the poor women and children of Dublin. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill her dreams.
