Supervisor of Nursing CICU (Night Shift)
Full-Time Position

Athena Health Care is seeking an experienced and dynamic Supervisor of Nursing Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) to join our team on the night shift. This leadership role is ideal for a highly skilled nurse with a strong background in critical care and a passion for delivering exceptional patient outcomes.

The CICU is a 27-bed cardiac and medical critical care unit specializing in the care of complex patient populations, including pre- and post-operative cardiac patients, cardiomyopathy requiring mechanical circulatory support, heart failure, and post-myocardial infarction care. Advanced therapies and conditions managed within the unit include IABP, Swan-Ganz monitoring, CRRT, TTM, DKA, pacemaker management, severe sepsis, and respiratory failure.

Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, Director, or Executive Director, the Nursing Supervisor/Charge Nurse is responsible for creating and maintaining an optimal clinical environment. This role provides leadership and oversight of unit operations, staff, and patient care delivery to ensure the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. The Supervisor plans, organizes, coordinates, and evaluates departmental activities while aligning with the ANA Nursing Administration: Scope and Standards of Practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical leadership and operational oversight for the CICU during assigned shifts
  • Coordinate staffing, patient flow, and resource allocation to ensure safe, high-quality care
  • Supervise and support nursing staff, fostering a collaborative and accountable work environment
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, policies, and evidence-based practices
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and care delivery
  • Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for nursing staff
  • Promote a culture of patient-centered, compassionate care

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (as required by state)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association upon hire
  • At least one professional certification in a related specialty upon hire
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent clinical experience in a relevant specialty area
  • Prior experience as a Charge Nurse or Relief Charge Nurse

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN)
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a clinical setting
