Supervises the daily operations of the Ophthalmic Technician Services. Performs technical patient procedures to document and diagnose visual acuity. Serves as a central point of contact for coordinating patient care/patient flow within assigned area of responsibility. Collaborates with physicians, staff and other departments to enhance services. Supervises department staff. Ensures polices and procedure are adhered to. Develops and provides resident and fellow in-service/orientation for the ophthalmic technician services. Promotes and advocates for excellence in patient service standards.
Essential Duties
Supervises daily clinical operations and ensures efficient clinic flow.
Participates in continuously assessing and improving clinic performance.
Coordinates patient care/patient flow within service. Coordinates patient scheduling.
Supervises facility billing for technical component. Ensures the appropriate charges are captured in a timely fashion.
Assists with implementation of new policies and procedures to meet the goals and objectives of the department.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Req Bachelor's degree Degree in a related field.
Req 5 years Ophthalmic technical experience in a clinical setting.
Req 2 years Lead/ supervisory experience.
Req Knowledge of medical procedures terminology and protocols.
Req Knowledge in administering diagnostic tests.
Req Knowledge of specialized equipment and instruments.
Req Demonstrates strong understanding of the information or data to identify and elevate opportunities.
Req Strong customer service experience.
Req Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Req Demonstrated ability and skills in computer, Microsoft Office and applicable software.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
Req Certified Ophthalmic Technician (OCT)
Req Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
