The Plant Operations supervisor assists in planning, scheduling and supervising maintenance and repair work of the building, grounds, equipment, and utility systems. Must be able to apply principles of personnel management to selection and placement of employees.

  • Experience - Minimum 3 years experience supervising and managing maintenance personnel.

  • Education - Minimum high school education

  • Training - Minimum 3 years experience and training in working with pumps, engines, air conditioning, and heating along with other complex mechanical equipment

  • Special Skills - Must have knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, oxygen and vacuum, nitrous oxide systems, fire alarm system, paging system, nurse call system and electricity.

  • Licensure - Valid Louisiana Drivers License

  • Team

  • Assist in planning, scheduling, supervising, and performing annual performance appraisals for department team members

  • Promote good team member attitudes, motivation, and patient relations by keeping abreast of all problems and issues and actively providing resolution and keep Director notified of any pertinent complaints.

  • Assist director with new employee orientations, EOC meetings and counseling, coaching team members.

  • When requested, adjusts personal schedule to meet department/unit needs.

  • Be able to handle unforeseen calls during emergencies or assist Plant Operations Department team members should they have any questions.

  • Service

  • Assist Director with safety and survey and Hazardous Waste surveys and reports.

  • Inspect the appearance of facility and grounds and make any suggestions for repair.

  • Inspect, repair and troubleshoot all areas of plant operations grounds including daily supervise, assist and inspect all work in the plant grounds and security and complete all repairs within 24 hours when conditions favorable. Twice daily visually inspect all major equipment to ensure operating efficiency

  • Adheres to hospital policy on the usage of Paid Time Off and Extended Illness Time.

  • Reports to work on time, and if necessary, reports tardiness to appropriate person.

  • Responds appropriately to fire, safety and disaster situations.

  • Quality

  • Supervise department personnel to ensure efficient quality job performance daily.

  • Oversees and/or performs monthly, weekly, and daily preventative maintenance on all equipment as scheduled and makes periodic checks of preventative maintenance records and assures that pms are done as scheduled.

  • Daily oversee and maintain safe working conditions as per OSHA, JCAHO, State Fire Marshal, and any other regulatory agencies.

  • Utilizes time to accomplish work in an efficient manner.

  • Maintains a professional appearance, according to job requirements, at all times.

  • Employee shall conform to regulatory, customer and organizational requirements.

  • Operates equipment and performs job-related duties in a safe manner.

  • Utilizes Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the appropriate manner for optimal personal protection.

  • Stewardship

  • Assists Director in financial and operating budgets including monitoring actual vs. budgeted costs, manages and monitors labor monitoring reports and assist Director in projecting supply costs and labor cost

  • Advocates for allocation and reallocation of resources necessary to enhance quality of department and hospital

  • Adjusts staff appropriately due to volume.

  • Growth

  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Attended all required mandatory educational sessions.

  • Assumes personal responsibility for ongoing continuing education and professional development.

  • Team
