The City is seeking an experienced and innovative Recreation Center Supervisor to lead the day-to-day operations and overall direction of a vibrant recreation and community service center serving adults age 50 and older.

This is an exciting leadership opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, building community, and turning ideas into meaningful programs and experiences. The Supervisor will lead the planning, development, organization, and evaluation of a diverse range of recreation, wellness, community, and special-event programs and services, while providing guidance and support to staff and community partners.

The Supervisor will balance the day-to-day operations of the center with long-term planning, while leading staff, managing resources, building community partnerships, solving problems, and making thoughtful decisions that support the center's continued growth and success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, plan, organize, and oversee the overall operation of the recreation and community service center.
  • Develop and implement programs, services, activities, and special events for seniors and active adults.
  • Develop policies, procedures, strategic plans, and operational processes that support the centers short- and long-term goals.
  • Lead efforts to meet and maintain the standards required for national accreditation.
  • Provide oversight of wellness services, including supervision of a Registered Nurse and licensed mental health counselors.
  • Assist with the preparation and monitoring of the centers budget and oversee financial, procurement, and payroll responsibilities.
  • Stay informed about emerging issues and proposed legislation affecting senior services and provide recommendations to City leadership.
  • Serve as an advocate and resource for issues affecting older adults and, when appropriate, represent senior interests at the local, state, and national levels.

Minimum Training & Experience

Possession of a bachelor's degree in leisure services, physical education, recreation, senior services, social work, public administration or a related field and three years of experience that includes recreation administration, teaching physical education, administration of a recreational program, customer service, event or program planning, facility management, accounting or public administration or three years of experience that includes the specialty area in which the vacancy exits (such as pool management, coaching, gerontology, non-profit administration or senior services) or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Necessary Special Requirements

Must obtain CPR and First Aide certificates within the first six months of employment, and maintain same license and certifications as a condition of continued employment.

Salary Range

$25.1538 to $68.2567/hourly. Hiring rate generally will not exceed $46.8355/hour.

Drivers License Requirements

Must possess a valid Class-E State drivers license at the time of appointment.
