Oversee the management of contract for new construction and/or major renovations for multimillion-dollar capital programs.

Essential Functions

  • Develops project plans, work breakdown, and schedules required to successfully complete projects on time and within budget constraints.
  • Provides oversight and direction to general contractor, construction managers or other independent construction teams for the management of construction projects.
  • Ensures that construction projects conform to local state and federal standards.
  • Maintains construction project documentation.
  • Performs and/or reviews calculations to ensure that estimates confirm to regulatory requirements as well as budgets.
  • Inspects construction projects to assure conformance with designs, plans, and speculations. Performs surveys, tests, and investigations related to construction projects.
  • Resolves conflicts between drawing and specifications with general contractor, construction contractors and other appropriate parties.
  • Prepares clear and accurate reports on construction project.
  • Utilizes computer software in preparation analyses, and reporting of construction project management.
  • Reviews and resolves claims arising from construction projects in consultation with appropriate technical and legal advisors.
  • Proposes, negotiates and concludes changes order negotiations.
  • Reviews, monitors, and utilizes warranties on materials related to construction project.
  • Develops and maintains communication and reporting channels with internal clients.
  • Plans and coordinates implementation of tasks related to project close-out and building commissioning.
  • Assist in preparation and monitoring of construction project budgets.
  • May provide guidance to support staff

Maximum Salary 140514.00

Minimum Salary 82651.00

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or construction management form an accredited college or university.
  • Five years' experience in Architecture, engineering, or construction management to include three years in a lead or supervisory capacity.
  • Additional related education, training, or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis for the education requirement.
  • Valid non-commercial class C drivers' license.
  • Experience in computer software used in construction project management, building design and 1 and/or construction administration.
  • Experience with Proliance project management software, primavera project scheduling software and Autodesk Revit building design software desirable. Skills in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrated in depth skills at construction monitoring, resolving conflicts between drawings and specifications, inspection of materials for specification compliance, and related matters.
  • Demonstrated in depth skills at general contractor construction management oversight.
  • Demonstrated in depth skills in the management of projects utilizing the CM at Risk GMP project delivery method.
  • Demonstrated in depth skills at claims review, change order negotiations, warranty oversight.
  • Demonstrated in depth skills at internal client coordination and interface.
  • Demonstrated in depth skills at project close out and building commissioning.
  • Ability to write and present technical reports for both general and technical audience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other both verbally and in writing.

In accordance with Maryland law, City School is required to share the position salary ranges in its entirety. Please note, this is not the hiring range. The hiring range for this position is ($82,819 - $103,937)
