Summary
Under the general supervision of the Manager of Security and/or the appropriate designee the supervisor is charged with directing officer personnel under their authority and is
further responsible for ensuring and maintaining maximum security for patients, visitors, employees and students at Rush. The Security Supervisor will report and document all
infractions of rules, regulations and policies including federal, state and local laws and ordinances. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision, and Rush Promise values. Acts in
accordance with Rush policies and procedures.
Requirements
•High school graduate or GED.
•Must possess/maintain a valid Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC) from the Illinois Department of Finance and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) after successfully
completing a 20-hour security guard training course from an approved provider.
•Valid Illinois, Indiana, or Wisconsin driver’s license required with a prior driving record deemed acceptable to Human Resources pursuant to a driver’s history check.
Must possess or obtain healthcare security certification at the “Basic” and “Supervisory” level by the International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS)
within 6 months of hire and maintained thereafter.
•Ability to work various shifts; including weekends as assignments dictate.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills and customer service.
•Ability to prioritize workload.
Preferred Job Qualifications
•Three (3) years prior supervisory security experience in a healthcare, law enforcement or corporate security environment preferred.
•Associate degree in Criminal Justice or related field preferred.
•Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certified.
Physical Demands:
•Able to tolerate prolonged walking/standing/sitting for the duration of shift.
•Able to withstand outdoor temperatures throughout the year.
•Able to perform required responsibilities.
•Able to successfully demonstrate the retention, use and maintenance of issued equipment.
•Able to lift at minimum 50 pounds to the waist height.
•Able to wear all issued equipment including ballistic vest and duty belt.
