Job Description:

LEARN, Southeastern Connecticuts Regional Educational Service Center, is seeking a Special Education Supervisor to support our Programs and Schools. This is an exciting leadership opportunity for a passionate, systems-oriented professional committed to advancing inclusive, high-quality programming for students.

As a key member of the Office of Student Support Services (SSS) leadership team, you will play a critical role in shaping programming, building staff capacity, and ensuring student success through evidence-based practices and strong collaborative partnerships.

Program Leadership & Innovation

  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of specialized programs serving students with disabilities.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and drive innovation in instructional practices and service delivery.
  • Support development and alignment of curriculum, materials, and methodologies.

Staff Development & Supervision

  • Coach, support, and evaluate special education teachers, related service providers, and support staff.
  • Design and facilitate professional learning focused on evidence-based practices.
  • Build leadership capacity across programs through modeling and collaboration.

Student-Centered Systems & Compliance

  • Ensure IEP implementation aligns with CT SDE standards and federal mandates.
  • Monitor program quality, data, and student progress.
  • Maintain current knowledge of special education laws and best practices.

Collaboration & Partnerships

  • Partner with LEAs and LEARN administrators to support PPT processes and student programming.
  • Provide consultation and training to general education staff.
  • Support systems such as MTSS and Section 504 implementation.

What You Bring:

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in special education or related services.
  • Deep expertise in IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring.
  • Demonstrated success coaching and developing staff and programs.
  • Experience in elementary and/or early childhood settings (preferred).

Skills & Strengths

  • Strong systems thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to build trusting, collaborative relationships with staff, families, and districts.
  • High level of organization and attention to detail.

Education & Certification

  • Valid certification in Special Education, School Psychology, Speech-Language Pathology, or related field.
  • Masters degree in an appropriate educational discipline.
  • Connecticut Administrator Certification required.
