Supervisor – Sterile Processing Department (Direct Hire)

Position Summary
The Sterile Processing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations within the Sterile Processing Department, including decontamination, cleaning, assembly, sterilization, storage, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment.
This role ensures strict adherence to infection prevention standards, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance protocols while driving operational efficiency and supporting surgical and procedural services. The Supervisor provides leadership, training, and performance management for sterile processing staff and collaborates closely with perioperative teams and hospital leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily sterile processing operations and workflow
- Oversee decontamination, cleaning, assembly, sterilization, and storage of instruments
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (Joint Commission, OSHA, CDC, AAMI, and internal policies)
- Monitor sterilization processes, testing, and quality control documentation
- Manage staff scheduling, training, onboarding, and competency validation
- Provide coaching, leadership, and performance feedback to team members
- Maintain accurate inventory and instrumentation tracking systems
- Troubleshoot sterilization equipment and operational issues
- Collaborate with surgical services and nursing teams to ensure timely instrument availability
- Promote infection prevention and patient safety best practices
Qualifications
- CRCST certification or equivalent required
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 2–3+ years of sterile processing experience required
- Prior supervisory or lead experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of sterilization systems, instrumentation, and infection prevention protocols
- Experience with automated sterilization equipment preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills required
