About this job:
Supervises day-to-day operations of student transportation in one of two terminal locations. Supervised staff picks up and drop off students at regularly scheduled neighborhood locations, in accordance with Federal, State, local laws and regulations (e.g., Colorado Department of Education (CDE); Denver Public Schools (DPS) training, policies and procedures; and safety rules and regulations. This is a working supervisory position where bus driving may be required.

Schedule and supervise day-to-day operations of drivers and paraprofessionals in accordance with District policy. Adjust daily schedule and work assignments to ensure transportation services are not delayed or interrupted.
Evaluate DPS transportation services and ensure consistency with School Board policy.
Review and follow Federal, State and Local rules and regulations and procedures applicable to passenger transportation.
Maintain employee personnel records; ensure that they are complete and accurate. Review and enter information into the Kronos Workforce Timekeeper program, correcting time clock errors, and approving employee time.
Monitor payroll budget by reviewing employee attendance; initiate corrective employee action as needed.
Investigate employee complaints.
Monitor and track submitted driver forms to ensure completion and accuracy.
Respond to accident scenes, determining physical condition of employees, students or teachers; ensure paperwork is completed; communicate with emergency personnel; and follow up with drug test as needed.
Train and coach drivers and paraprofessionals in variety of areas such as job performance and student interaction. Ensure that drivers and paraprofessionals follow the DPS dress code and wear proper attire and safety items, taking into consideration weather conditions.
Supervise driver compliance with safety measures and District policy, and implement corrective action when necessary.
Enforce the controlled substance testing program.
Communicate with school personnel, parents or guardians of students regarding student behavior issues; and route and safety concerns.
Review bus camera video in order to identify and substantiate customer concerns and issues. Manage passenger and student behavior using student management skills to ensure safety. Resolve concerns and communicate with passengers and students using a customer services orientation.
Monitor terminal to ensure cleanliness and safe working conditions .Inspect buses for cleanliness, safety compliance, and need for maintenance.
Dispatch drivers and paraprofessionals in person and using dispatch two way radio.
Supervise the transportation of special needs students; ensure installation and operation of proper special needs equipment.
Drive multi-passenger vehicles to transport students between neighborhoods, schools, and school activities.
Pick up and drop off students at regularly scheduled neighborhood locations, following DPS policy.
Assist and secure students passengers during boarding and unloading, according to policies and procedures. Follow safety rules during bus operations at bus stops and school drop-off locations.
Report incidents of suspected child abuse.
Perform other duties as assigned.
This is a safety-sensitive position within the DPS School District and mandatory position requirements include: a copy of current Driving Record at time of hire, clear CBI criminal/background investigation and compliance with Drug Free/Pre-hire and Random Drug testing conducted throughout duration of assignment.
