**Job Title: Shipping and Inventory Specialist** **Pay: $21-23/hour** **Job Description** This role oversees the preparation, packaging, and shipment of samples and products while maintaining accurate inventory records within a warehouse environment. You will manage shipping documentation, select optimal carriers, and use warehouse management and shipping systems to ensure accurate, timely deliveries. The position combines hands-on warehouse work with detailed data entry and coordination across internal teams and external carriers. **Responsibilities** + Prepare, package, and seal samples and products for shipment, ensuring all safety, handling, and regulatory requirements are followed. + Select the most efficient shipping method based on destination, required timelines, and cost considerations. + Create and manage all shipping documentation, including labels, packing slips, bills of lading, invoices, and customs forms. + Use shipping platforms such as UPS WorldShip, FedEx Ship Manager, DHL systems, and warehouse management systems (WMS) to process and track outgoing shipments. + Maintain accurate digital logs of all shipments, including inventory levels, tracking numbers, and recipient details. + Monitor in-transit shipments, track progress, and troubleshoot delays to ensure on-time delivery. + Coordinate with couriers, internal teams, vendors, and receiving contacts to schedule pickups and resolve shipment issues. + Perform inventory control tasks, including cycle counting, to ensure accurate warehouse inventory records. + Operate or support the use of RF scan guns to track inventory movement and update system records. + Keep the shipping workstation and surrounding work areas organized, clean, and fully stocked at all times. + Use shipping and tracking data to identify process improvements, streamline workflow, and help reduce shipping costs. + Support quality assurance activities related to shipments and inventory accuracy. + Take on additional warehouse and logistics responsibilities as needed to support overall operations. **Essential Skills** + Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word. + Proficiency with shipping software and platforms such as UPS WorldShip, FedEx Ship Manager, DHL systems, and warehouse management systems (WMS). + Experience working in logistics, shipping, or inventory management. + Previous experience with inventory control and cycle counting in a distribution warehouse environment. + Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) for tracking and managing inventory. + Capability to operate an RF scan gun for inventory and shipment processing. + Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify and correct errors before they become problems. + Ability to work efficiently under deadlines and manage multiple shipments simultaneously. + Strong communication skills for collaborating with carriers, vendors, and internal teams. + Solid understanding of domestic and international shipping procedures and carrier regulations. + Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform a high volume of walking in a warehouse setting. + High level of organization and accuracy in maintaining records and documentation. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Experience working in a distribution warehouse handling food products is a plus. + Capability to operate a forklift is a plus. + Experience or exposure to quality assurance processes within a warehouse or distribution environment. + Demonstrated ability to be highly flexible and take on additional responsibilities as required. + Self-starter mentality with the ability to work independently without constant supervision. + Strong organizational habits, including keeping records accurate and work areas tidy. + Analytical mindset with the ability to use shipping and tracking data to improve workflow and reduce costs. + Reliable and dependable work style, ensuring every shipment is correct, complete, and on time. **Why Work Here?** You will work in a brand-new, modern facility designed for efficiency and comfort, with your own dedicated workstation and tools. The position involves frequent walking throughout the warehouse and handling packages up to 40 pounds. The facility is new and well-organized, with an emphasis on cleanliness, safety, and maintaining a tidy work area. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract position based out of Suffolk, VA. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.
