    This position is located at Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration Office of Investigation.

    As a Supervisory Criminal Investigator Assistant Special Agent in Charge ASAC you will supervise an investigative group for the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administrations TIGTA Office of Investigations for the Operations Division Policy and Training Team.

    As a criminal investigator you will be called upon to spearhead the largest most complex and most sensitive criminal and occasionally non-criminal investigations which come under the jurisdiction of the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration TIGTA.

    As a Supervisory Criminal Investigator Assistant Special Agent in Charge ASAC you will be responsible for the management of a groups investigative program and assigned resources. This program investigates allegations of fraud abuse or misconduct by employees of the IRS and the related entities and actions by individuals who attempt to threaten or corrupt these employees or impede Federal tax administration.

    The ASAC reviews and after approval forwards the results of the investigative efforts to the Department of Justice IRS management or other authorities for appropriate action concerning the criminal and or administrative findings.The ASAC directly supervises a group consisting of approximately 5 - 11 Special Agents and or support personnel.     Qualifications

    You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

    Age Requirements

    Incumbents selected for Criminal Investigator positions are covered under special law enforcement provisions. This requires that applicants not exceed the maximum age for entry. The date immediately preceding an applicants 37th birthday is the final date for selection. The age restriction does not apply if you served in a Federal civilian not military law enforcement officer FLEO position covered by special civil service retirement provisions including early or mandatory retirement.

    Medical Requirements

    The duties of positions in this series require moderate to arduous physical exertion involving walking and standing use of firearms and exposure to inclement weather. Manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of finger wrist elbow shoulder hip and knee joints is required. Arms hands legs and feet must be sufficiently intact and functioning in order that applicants may perform the duties satisfactorily. Sufficiently good vision in each eye with or without correction is required to perform the duties satisfactorily. Near vision corrective lenses permitted must be sufficient to read printed material the size of typewritten characters. Hearing loss as measured by an audiometer must not exceed 35 decibels at 1000 2000 and 3000 Hz levels. Since the duties of these positions are exacting and responsible and involve activities under trying conditions applicants must possess emotional and mental stability. Any physical condition that would cause the applicant to be a hazard to himher or others is disqualifying.

    Specialized Experience

    For the GS-14 you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes - Planning and conducting investigations in accordance with Federal laws and regulations as well as agency policies to determine violations of the IRS and federal laws and regulations.

    AND - Coordinating a team of Special Agents to assist with investigations or project assignments.

    AND - Providing oral and written communication to give guidance and report facts and circumstances in a fashion understandable to others including the preparation of investigative and management reports oral testimony in court or other legal proceedings and training sessions.

    Time-in-Grade

    In addition to the above requirements you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement if applicable For the GS-14 you must have been at the GS-13level for 52 weeks.

    Time After Competitive Appointment

    Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.

Treasury Bureaus make up 98% of the Treasury work force and are responsible for carrying out specific operations assigned to the Department. The Department of the Treasury includes: 


     *Departmental Offices (DO) 
    The Departmental Offices (DO)are primarily responsible for the formulation of policy and management of the Department as a whole, while the operating bureaus carry out the specific operations assigned to the Department. 
     

    *Bureau of Engraving & Printing (BEP) 
    The Bureau of Engraving & Printing (BEP) designs and manufactures U.S. currency, securities, and other official certificates and awards. 

    *Internal Revenue Service (IRS) 
    The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is the largest of Treasury's bureaus. It is responsible for determining, assessing, and collecting internal revenue in the United States. 

    Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) 
    The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) is responsible for enforcing and administering laws covering the production, use, and distribution of alcohol and tobacco products. TTB also collects excise taxes for firearms and ammunition. 
     
       
    Bureau of the Fiscal Service 
    The Bureau of the Fiscal Service was formed from the consolidation of the Financial Management Service and the Bureau of the Public Debt. Its mission is to promote the financial integrity and operational efficiency of the U.S. government through exceptional accounting, financing, collections, payments, and shared services. 
      
     
    The Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN)                                                                                                                                                      The Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) supports law enforcement investigative efforts and fosters interagency and global cooperation against domestic and international financial crimes. It also provides U.S. policy makers with strategic analyses of domestic and worldwide trends and patterns.

    Inspector General  
    The Inspector General conducts independent audits, investigations and reviews to help the Treasury Department accomplish its mission; improve its programs and operations; promote economy, efficiency and effectiveness; and prevent and detect fraud and abuse. 
     

    Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) 
    The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) charters, regulates, and supervises national banks to ensure a safe, sound, and competitive banking system that supports the citizens, communities, and economy of the United States. 
     

    Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA)  
    The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) provides leadership and coordination and recommends policy for activities designed to promote economy, efficiency, and effectiveness in the administration of the internal revenue laws. TIGTA also recommends policies to prevent and detect fraud and abuse in the programs and operations of the IRS and related entities. 
     
      
    U.S. Mint 
    The U.S. Mint designs and manufactures domestic, bullion and foreign coins as well as commemorative medals and other numismatic items. The Mint also distributes U.S. coins to the Federal Reserve banks as well as maintains physical custody and protection of our nation's silver and gold assets.
