Job Summary

This position is in the DC Department of Public Works (DPW), Office of Information Technology Services (OITS). DPW''s mission is to provide the highest-quality sanitation, parking enforcement, and fleet management services that are ecologically sound and

cost-effective.

Incumbent directs the agency''s efforts to evaluate, recommend, and implement information management plans and systems for use by the agency and its components, including technical, managerial, operational, feasibility assessments, and artificial

intelligence integration when applicable.

Coordinates the IT initiatives of the agency components into a cohesive IT plan for the agency, with the business units relying on the incumbent''s expertise for independent performance and judgment of work to be accomplished. Discusses policies with the Chief

Qualifications and Education

Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

OR

Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed

below:

  1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending

Duration of Appointment: Management Supervisory Service (MSS): At-will employment applies to the MSS. All positions and appointments in the MSS serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority and may be terminated at any time with or without cause.

Collective Bargaining Unit: (Non-Union) This position is not in the Collective Bargaining Unit.

Position Designation: This position will be subject to enhanced suitability screening pursuant to Chapter 4 of DC Personnel Regulations, Suitability - Security Sensitive. Accordingly, the incumbent will be subject to pre-employment checks (criminal background checks, consumer credit check, traffic record checks, if applicable) as a condition of employment, and will be subject to periodic criminal background checks for the duration of your tenure.

Essential Designation: This position is classified as an essential position under the provisions of the District Personnel Manual Chapter 12. As such, the incumbent is required to serve in emergency situations to perform critical duties, i.e., snow removal, debris removal, transportation, shelter, operations, food distribution, and communications. These duties may be performed when the government is closed or when employees are dismissed early.

Residency Requirement Statement: If the position you are applying for is in the Career, Management Supervisory, or Educational Service at an annual salary of one hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) or more, you must establish residency in the District of Columbia within one hundred eighty (180) days of the effective date of the appointment and continue to maintain residency within the District of Columbia throughout the duration of the appointment.
