As a Supervisory Marine Biologist, you will perform the following duties:

  • Supervise, lead, and manage staff through guidance, motivation, mentoring, outreach, innovation, vision and example. Oversee Program operations, including setting management measures or providing management-relevant scientific information, establishing, research priorities, managing Program budgets, and developing staffing plans. nt
  • Oversee implementation of work under relevant statutes including the Magnuson Stevens Act, Endangered Species Act, Marine Mammal Protection Action, Coral Reef Conservation Act, and other relevant laws. nt
  • Serve on international, domestic, and agency delegations, committees and working groups to provide management advice and scientific information and to share related issues and results. Collaborate with a variety of communities, government representatives, tribal representatives, non-governmental organizations, academia, and the scientific community on fisheries management and protected species. Prepare and disseminate management relevant reports, information products, analytical tools, data visualization products and presentations. nt
  • Carry out research projects specific to the priority requirements of the Program. Determine research methodologies, plan and conduct surveys, analyze and interpret data, and publish research findings. Such study may involve a variety of survey and study approaches, including incorporation of existing or emerging advanced technologies. n

  • This position requires the operation of a Federal motor vehicle. The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver''s license to operate a government vehicle in completion of assigned tasks (i.e., site visits, field research, etc.) nt
