    JOB SUMMARY: Provides services for the prevention, diagnosis, habilitation, and rehabilitation of communication, swallowing, or other upper aero-digestive disorders; elective modification of communication behaviors; and enhancement of communication. Performs related duties such as participation in rounds, clinics, departmental performance improvement, and clinical education in accordance with state practice act, applicable regulations, and departmental policy and procedures. Participates in the design and implementation of decision making guidelines. Incorporates evidence-based practice in the patient management. Adheres to practice act, regulations and rules, departmental policies and procedures, and documentation and reimbursement rules applicable to the setting. Manages patient appointment system and works with front office on service authorization, certification and recertification when needed. Demonstrates competence to adapt work and customer service to accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, safety and other developmental needs of patients.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Education: Master's degree of Speech & Hearing, Communicative Disorders or related fields

    Licenses & Certification:

    • Basic Life Support from approved American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) Program
    • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
    • Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) Texas license through TDLR

    Work Experience: Two year performing comprehensive speech-language evaluations and treatment for adults, pediatrics and neonates.

    Communication Skills:

    Above Average Verbal (Heavy Public Contract)

    Exceptional Verbal (e.g., Public Speaking)

    Writing /Correspondence

    Writing /Reports

    Language Skills: Bilingual - Spanish, Vietnamese preferred.

    Proficiencies: MS Word , Personal Computer

    Other Requirements: Membership in the American Physical Therapy Association is preferred. Must demonstrate competency in age-specific and job-specific criteria. Previous experience in area of practice preferred.
