SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Teaches elementary school students academic social and motor skills in the public school setting. Teachers will have excellent organization and communication skills as well as possess the philosophy that all children can and will learn.

QUALIFICATIONS

• EDUCATION: Bachelors Degree required Masters Degree preferred
• LICENSE: Must hold a valid Indiana State Teachers License in Elementary Education K-6. Must be deemed Highly Qualified in accordance with the Indiana Department of Education

SUMMARY OF OPPORTUNITY

Supplemental Teachers are retired teachers from IPS hired on a temporary basis by the principal or department head.

The type of work youll do will vary based on the schools/departments needs. Tasks may include:

• Provides supplemental instruction to students in reading and/or mathematics
• Complies with all policies and procedures of the district and supplemental programs through which the position is funded
• Assists in preparing curriculum materials
• Assists in the assessment of students to help determine program eligibility and appropriate instructional placement
• Maintains records and all relevant documentation for compliance review and/or audits
• Works under the supervision of the principal

Supplemental Teachers will follow the schedule established by director/principal and report and log time in Kronos to be paid.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

None.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions short correspondence and memos
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one small group and large group situations

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

• Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals
• Ability to compute rate ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs

REASONING ABILITY

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but written or oral instructions
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATION

• Bachelors Degree in Education B.A. or B.S. from a four-year college or university
• Valid Indiana Teaching License
• Working knowledge of federal and state special education laws rules and practices including IDEA and Article 7
• Broad knowledge of Indiana and IPS education policies practices and programs
